We are looking for a meticulous and collaborative Driver License Examiner to join our team at the Hazleton licensing center. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting standardized examinations to assess the skills and competencies of both commercial (CDL) and non-commercial driver license applicants. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Driver License Examiner, your primary role will involve administering standardized tests to individuals seeking both commercial (CDL) and non-commercial driver licenses. In addition to conducting these examinations, you will play a crucial role in assisting customers at the Driver License Center by managing the processing of applications and related paperwork. It is essential to meticulously review all documentation to mitigate risks associated with identity theft and fraud. Your responsibilities will also include assessing the physical and driving qualifications of applicants, as well as evaluating the mechanical condition of vehicles to ensure they meet safety standards. You will be tasked with administering various vision tests, including telebinocular and color perception assessments, alongside both non-CDL and CDL examinations to verify that candidates have a comprehensive understanding of vehicle codes and traffic signs. We seek an individual who demonstrates exceptional customer service and communication abilities, as you will frequently engage with the public and address a wide range of inquiries.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours/week.
  • Work hours are 8:15 AM to 4:45 PM, Tuesday - Saturday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Overtime and travel to other driver license centers may be required as necessary.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience as a Driver License Examiner Assistant (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Two years of experience obtaining, evaluating, and providing information to the public.

Special Requirements:

  • This position requires an active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C Driver's License or equivalent and twenty-one years of age at the time of application.
  • This position requires no suspensions or revocations of a driver's license during the five year period immediately preceding employment.
  • All employees in this job hired after February 28, 2022, are required to obtain an active unrestricted Class M driver's license within the first six months of employment or before the end of the probationary period and maintain it during employment.
  • This position requires possession of an active Class A Pennsylvania Commercial Driver's License or equivalent with the following endorsements: P and N. The Commercial Driver License cannot have any of the following restrictions: E, L, N, O, or Z.
