Job Overview:

The Legal Assistant is responsible for providing comprehensive administrative and operational support to the Corporate Legal Department, with a primary focus on legal and regulatory matters affecting the West Coast (California, Oregon, and Washington). This position functions as a key member of the national corporate legal team and contributes to the effective coordination of legal, regulatory, and compliance activities.

Where you will work:



  • This opportunity offers the flexibility to work on a hybrid schedule (2-3 days in office per week) based out of Astound's Seattle, WA office.



A Day in the Life of the Legal Assistant:



  • Coordinate and manage day-to-day matters for the legal department as necessary and appropriate.
  • Oversee the preparation, submission, renewal, and tracking of business licenses at the local, county, and state levels.
  • Manage corporate entity documentation, including the preparation and filing of annual reports and related compliance filings, process certificate of insurance requests and coordinate updates or changes with relevant stakeholders.
  • Conduct legal research and provide administrative support for inquiries related to legal or regulatory matters.
  • Handle subpoena intake and processing in accordance with established procedures, as well as maintaining and updating the department's legal document repository.
  • Oversee Federal Communications Commission (FCC) political file for California, Oregon, and Washington, including download/upload tracking and compliance documentation.
  • Coordinate and assist with obtaining and managing real property documentation such as easements, access rights, and use licenses.
  • Support the permitting process for rights-of-way, construction, and operational access to facilities and infrastructure.
  • Provide research support for franchise agreements and other regulatory licenses. Prepare and issue regulatory notices, including FCC section 626 franchise renewal letters.
  • Assist with customer claim and complaint responses by coordinating with operations team, the Executive Resolution Team and legal counsel.
  • Manage incident reporting for operational events such as automobile accidents, including coordination with insurance providers.
  • Oversee physical and digital mail distribution, document scanning, and filing.
  • Maintain legal contract archives and support contract management processes.
  • Other duties as assigned.



What You Bring to the Table:



  • 2+ years of experience in a legal, regulatory, or compliance support role, preferably within a corporate legal department.
  • Experience in telecommunications, utilities, real estate, or regulated industries.
  • Proficient in Adobe Acrobat, Google Suite, and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities under deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and research capabilities.
  • Familiarity with permitting processes, licensing, easement documentation, or franchise agreements.



Education:



  • High School diploma or equivalent and Associates Degree in Business or Law preferred or relevant experience.

Base Compensation: The base hourly range for this position is $27/hour - $32/hour plus opportunities for benefits. The base pay range represents the low and high end of the hiring range for this job. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to relevant skills, experience, and capabilities.
