Job Profile Summary

This role focuses on supporting the education and development of employees or students by developing education, curricula, materials, and programs to support educational growth. In addition, this role focuses on performing the following Employee Education duties: Develops, implements, and evaluates diversity/equal employment opportunity (EEO) and affirmative action programs to ensure compliance with government legislation and organization goals. Provides training and coaching for employees and managers on diversity issues. A professional individual contributor role that may direct the work of other lower level professionals or manage processes and programs. The majority of time is spent overseeing the design, implementation or delivery of processes, programs and policies using specialized knowledge and skills typically acquired through advanced education. An entry level role that applies broad theoretical job knowledge typically obtained through advanced education. May require the following proficiency: work is closely supervised, problems faced are not typically difficult or complex, and explains facts, policies and practices related to job area.

Job Overview

This position uses approved and updated curricula to plan, teach, and evaluate course participants becoming certified in topics such as Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), First Aid, and other health related topics. Requires strong teaching skills along with a willingness to travel to sites during non-traditional work schedules such as during the evenings or weekends.

Job Description

Minimum Qualifications:

1. High school diploma or equivalent.

2. Basic First Aid certification.

3. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

4. One (1) year of BLS and First Aid teaching experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree.

2. One (1) year in program planning and administration.

Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities listed below are intended to describe the general nature of work and are not intended to be an all-inclusive list. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

1. Assesses knowledge of class participants.

2. Ensures that the classroom is appropriately set up and ready for use. Provides effective and concise instruction.

3. Obtains appropriate paperwork from participants (i.e. sign-in forms, etc.).

4. Records and collects payment as necessary.

5. Administers and collects course evaluations from participants using standardized forms provided by the department.

6. Fulfills agreed upon teaching schedule. Finds own replacement if scheduling conflict arises.

7. Communicates with manager on program needs or changes, and related matters.

8. Communicates with office staff regarding supplies, evaluation forms, and related materials required for teaching.

7. Makes referrals to other programs as needed.

8. Calls or emails office staff with weekly hours worked prior to Monday mornings and periodically signs Departmental copies of timecards.

9. Represents hospital community events on an as needed basis.

10. Follows established policy and procedure regarding client and employee confidentiality.

11. Maintains appropriate instructor certifications as well as related licenses.

Physical Requirements:

1. Frequent standing and walking, occasional sitting and lifting of 10 - 50 lbs.

2. Requires manual dexterity using fine hand manipulation demonstrate CPR/First Aid techniques and to operate computer keyboard.

3. Requires ability to communicate effectively and see computer screen and reports.

Skills & Abilities:

1. High proficiency in Microsoft Office products. Thorough working knowledge and experience using Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.

2. Strong teaching skills, along with the ability to adjust teaching skills to meet the needs of the class.

3. Excellent organization, communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.

4. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and within scheduled deadlines.

5. Excellent interpersonal skills.
