As an experienced professional, you will collaborate with consultants and senior leadership in our Public Sector Consulting Practice to advise our Utility clients. Your clients will include local and regional agencies ranging from cities and counties to special-purpose utility authorities/districts who recognize the customer/citizen's experience is the focal point of their mission.

Your contributions will enrich our team by advising clients to improve processes, develop their staff, and optimize the capabilities of their enterprise software in consulting engagements involving:

  • Utility billing/Customer Information Systems (CIS) solutions.

  • ERP and other enterprise applications at public utility organizations (water, wastewater, electric, stormwater, solid waste, and/or gas)

  • And other related systems including: Customer portal solutions, Geographic Information System (GIS) solutions, Permitting and Land Management (LMS) solutions, Meter Data Management (MDM) solutions, Enterprise asset management (EAM)/computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) solutions, and utility software integrations.

Your work will include, but not be limited to:

  • Assist with technology selection projects and provide advice to public sector utility clients during their technology implementations

  • Help clients improve their operations through business process re-design.

  • Utilize project management skills and ensure client satisfaction

  • Prepare and present project deliverables to clients

  • Perform information technology (IT) assessments, strategic technology plans and process reengineering, and organization assessments

  • Conduct client account management activities that include identifying and closing on engagements with existing clients and prospects, attending industry conferences, as well as developing a strong referral network for business development

  • Participate directly in preparing and submitting proposals for generating new work

The qualifications.

  • Bachelor's Degree in business administration, accounting, public administration, civil engineering, information management, information systems, GIS or related discipline of study

  • 3+ years of experience working directly

  • in a public sector utility role (utility billing, customer service, finance, work management, etc.)

  • or in a consulting role serving the utility industry

  • or in a software implementation role serving the utility industry

  • Preferably have experience leading or supporting business process or technology implementation projects within a utility

  • Strong analytical, facilitation and problem-solving skills

  • Outstanding time management and organization skills

  • Superior attention to detail and conscientious quality of work product

  • Professional demeanor with superior oral communication skills

  • Ability to work independently, and as a part of a team

  • Ability to develop and grow internal relationships with colleagues both in person as well as in a remote setting. Ability to travel to clients and Plante Moran offices as necessary (currently 10-30% travel). Opportunity for client travel will scale with assignments.

  • Will consider remote arrangements for qualified applicants beyond areasonabledistance of a physical Plante Moran location

This is an exempt position, so you may have to work hours that exceed the standard 40-hour work week.

We are pleased to offer eligible staff a robust benefits package. Eligibility and contribution requirements for some of these benefits vary based on the number of hours staff work per week. Plante Moran also offers Interns and Contractors the option to elect health insurance under our contingent staff medical plan as of the 1st of the month following 60 days of employment in addition to limited paid time sick time. Compensation is commensurate with technical skills and experience is provided in accordance with applicable state requirement. Compensation information posted is based on a position being located in the state of CO or IL. Please review theposition location for theapplicable geographic location.
