Job Description
The purpose of this position is to provide project management for construction, renovation, and special projects. This is accomplished by working with internal stakeholders, architects, engineers, and consultants on project planning; developing project scopes of work; selecting vendors to perform work; coordinating work activities; inspecting work; working with county and state inspectors and agencies; conducting project meetings, and ensuring work is satisfactorily completed. The Project Manager is tasked with reviewing and understanding project programmatic requirements and applying state and college planning and design guidelines and technical standards. Other duties include developing field reports; attending regular meetings; operating blue print plotter; updating plans and specifications; and cost estimating.

Employees of Harford Community College, including instructors for online and virtual courses, must be residents of Maryland or the contiguous states of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia or the District of Columbia; non-residents are expected to relocate to meet this requirement.

Required Education
An associate's degree in construction project management or a closely related discipline is required
Required Experience
Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in construction and design
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Strong organizational skills
  • Proficiency in documenting field reports and effectively communicating project updates
  • Experience reviewing and processing change orders
  • Familiarity with local building and construction codes, regulations, and compliance standards
  • Ability to solicit, review, and evaluate vendor cost proposals for projects.
  • Ability to track and monitor project budgets, ensuring financial efficiency and accountability.
  • Must be able to read and comprehend construction drawings.

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management
Proficiency in AutoCaD and REVIT
Hours per Week 40 - 100%
General Weekly Work Schedule
Monday to Friday, 8:00am-4:00pm, with flexibility
