Position description

The UCLA Music Performance, Composition and Education Department invites applications for a part-time lecturer position in Elementary Music Education. This position will serve as an instructor of a core requirement for students in the Music Education Program for a sabbatical leave replacement. Salary commensurate with applicant qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities will include teaching a course in elementary general music method that includes theories and teaching approaches in elementary school. In addition, supporting student teaching practice in an elementary school once a week will also be required.

Applicants should have a strong background in theories of music teaching and learning, Orff and Kodaly approaches, experiences in teaching children, and the expertise in elementary classroom management and lesson design. A post-baccalaureate degree is preferred.

The application deadline is August 31, 2025, with an anticipated appointment date of October 1, 2025.
