Finance Analyst (GovCon experience required)

Job Description:

Analytical Mechanics Associates, Inc. (AMA) has an exciting opportunity for an experienced accountant to serve as a Financial Analyst supporting NASA at the Langley Research Center (LaRC) in Hampton, VA. Accounting experience in, or with, the federal government is a must, as is proven experience developing consolidated reports and analyses utilizing large data sets from multiple sources. Working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, the Financial Analyst will support the execution of various financial business processes related to planning, estimating, tracking, analysis and reporting for multiple projects of varying contract type, size, complexity, and level of risk. This individual will have a comprehensive understanding of accounting principles, finance concepts, practices and standards as well as knowledge of government industry practices.

Duties will be performed on-site at NASA Langley Research Center (LaRC) or at the AMA corporate office in Hampton, VA. Candidates must reside within a reasonable commuting distance from NASA LaRC and AMA headquarters in Hampton, VA at their date of hire.

Responsibilities:

• Significant interface with program managers, project managers, senior technical staff, as well as other functional organizations including contracts, finance, human resources, payroll, accounts receivable, procurement, subcontract management, etc.

• Analyze data used to update recurring reports and develop ad hoc reports to support AMA business management decisions and required reporting to external stakeholders. Reports may be complex in nature.

• Set up new vendors/employees in Costpoint and assist sub-contractors with completion of timesheets in Costpoint.

• Initiate new project set-up process in Costpoint.

• Coordinate appropriate project codes to include start and termination dates for employees assigned to the project.

• Review new task orders and modifications (MODs) for accuracy and consistency.

• Track all costs to validate that actuals plus projected costs do not exceed budget/funding.

• Enter and track changes of purchase orders and respective funding status.

• Assist Program/Project Analyst with various accounts payable tasks.

• Reconcile processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances and maintaining historical records.

• Responding to vendor enquiries.

• Prepare analyses of accounts and producing monthly reports.

• Monitor subcontractor invoicing and status and support monthly sub-contractor accruals.

• Identify financial discrepancies and coordinate corrections and assist with month end closings.

• Ad hoc reporting to support evaluation and analysis of annual workplan.

• Support finance management team in preparation of budget forecasting.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree with emphasis in finance, accounting, or a related discipline.

• Two (2) or more years of demonstrated work-related experience applicable to this position in a federal contracting environment

• Intermediate/advanced experience working with Excel.

• Demonstrated ability to integrate into small teams, while balancing requirements across many stakeholders.

• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

• Ability to interface successfully with customers.

• Ability to quickly adapt to dynamic work requirements and learn new disciplines.

Desired Qualifications:

• Power Query Editor (data integration, modeling concepts, pivot tables and lookup formulas)

• Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with Deltek Costpoint
