The application window is expected to close on 7/30/2025 This is a hybrid role with 3 days onsite in our San Jose office required Meet the Team The Distributed Systems Network team is working on the development of software for our next generation network operating systems for Cisco's industry leading UCS Fabric Interconnect platform. You will work with a diverse group of the brightest problem solvers and thinkers joining a team working on the next generation of Data Center & Cloud switches. Be part of the Cisco organization that is driving the evolution and expansion into cloud computing. Champion new methodologies and create scalable software solutions that help build next generation data centers. Your Impact As a Software Engineer on this team, you will be working on low level device drivers, OS components and application software that interact with home-grown and 3rd party ASICs, FPGAs, and SDK. Help to define, design and deliver new platforms for the next generation UCS fabric Interconnect platform. You will write functional and design specs independently and work closely with HW, ASIC team to bring up new platforms. You will also collaborate and work with QA and TAC / Escalation team to troubleshoot internal and customer issues. *You thrive in a dynamic start-up-like environment. *Ability to define, design, and deliver new platforms for the next generation UCS Fabric Interconnect platform. *Ability to write complete functional and design specs independently. *Ability to design & develop large portions of software independently and rapidly. *You are a person who likes to get to the depth of technology, down to its bits and bytes. *Aptitude for learning a wide range of Data Center technologies. Minimum Qualifications: *8+ years of relevant cloud networking industry experience *Strong proficiency in C, C++, and Python programming languages *Extensive experience in operating systems and system architecture *Hands-on experience in developing embedded system software for switch/router devices, including kernel drivers. Preferred Qualifications: *Master's degree (MS) in Electrical Engineering (EE), Computer Science (CS), or equivalent, or a Bachelor's degree (BSEE/CS) with relevant experience *Strong understanding of networking concepts and protocols *Demonstrated expertise in physical layer bring-up and debug processes *Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills Why Cisco?
