The position involves shift work, including 4:00 p.m. until 12:00 midnight or 12:00 midnight until 8:00 a.m. Monday through Friday and around the clock shifts on weekends and holidays.

  • Dispatch emergency workers and crews to investigate and repair leaks on water mains. Fill in work orders for all after-hour calls and channel them to the proper departments. Use of Customer Information System (CIS) for inquiry and generation of customer work orders. Utilize Service Link and Maintenance Connection when appropriate. Respond to PA One Call System and Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) for environmental events.
  • Operate the SCADA Computer Systems, make changes to pumping reports when necessary, operate pumps, monitor flow rates, wells, and standpipes. Monitor alarms and notify appropriate personnel for response.
  • Extract, review and interpolate data information, including SCADA data.
  • Make entries in log book for customer calls and emergencies, shut-downs, hydrants that are taken out of service, as well as system events and changes.
  • Apply common sense and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written and oral forms.
  • Must have good verbal communication skills in dealing with internal and external telephone calls. Receive calls from consumers regarding service requests, leaks on service, mains, pressure problems and other customer inquiries. One must have the ability to handle customer's distress in emergency situations and deal with customer and peer feedback.
  • Must have basic mathematics skills, legible handwriting, and knowledge of computers.
  • Operate and monitor security system for Aqua PA facilities.
  • Must have the ability and skills to utilize computers for system operation, e-mails, mapping, CIS, company plans, security and other system and programs.
  • Must have ability to work independently and make decisions.
  • Make written and verbal communications regarding issues at the end of a shift to incoming work force or supervision.

The hourly rate of pay is $38.55## per hour.

All employees hired or entering the bargaining unit on or after December 15, 2022, will receive four dollars ($4.00) per hour less than the classification wage rate. The wage reduction will be returned in one dollar ($1.00) increases once a year over a four (4) year period. Employee will receive annual contract increases.

A written examination may be given along with a field test.
