Position Description

The Vice President of Human Resources, Global Operations, is a critical strategic leadership role responsible for elevating all facets of the global plant HR function. This position serves as a vital strategic partner to the SVP of Global Operations and plant managers, overseeing all manufacturing plants, including both hourly and salaried personnel. As a key member of the Human Resources Leadership Team, this role reports directly to the SVP & Chief Human Resources Officer, contributing significantly to enterprise-wide HR strategy and organizational development initiatives.

You will do this by:
  • Translating operational goals into actionable HR strategies: Developing and implementing HR strategies that directly support and enhance the global plant operations' objectives, ensuring maximum execution and impact on productivity and efficiency.
  • Optimizing plant workforce performance and driving accountability: Implementing robust performance management frameworks, ensuring clear goals, measurable objectives, and defined timelines for all global plant employees. This drives accountability and consistent performance across manufacturing sites.
  • Co-creating and deploying global talent initiatives: Collaborating with the SVP & CHRO to design and roll out effective talent programs (performance management, succession planning, learning, and career pathing) specifically tailored to foster engagement and productivity within our diverse global plant workforce.
  • Leading talent reviews and pipeline development for plants, with a focus on upgrading talent: Driving talent reviews within global operations, actively building critical talent pipelines to ensure a continuous supply of skilled professionals for our manufacturing facilities worldwide. This includes identifying top talent and upgrading where necessary.
  • Cultivating a unified plant culture and championing company values: Actively participating in shaping and developing a shared purpose that encourages seamless collaboration across all global plant locations, fostering strong connections with regional offices and corporate headquarters. Ensuring Briggs & Stratton's "Commitment to Win" values are deeply understood and practiced throughout all global plant operations.
  • Providing thought leadership and coaching to the operations leadership team: Cultivating a high-performing culture rooted in accountability and operational excellence, acting as a trusted advisor to senior executives and plant management.
  • Leading and mentoring the global plant HR team (approximately 20 people): Overseeing a team of HR professionals, including Manufacturing Plant HR Managers, providing expert advice and coaching to plant-level and operations leaders on all HR-related matters.
  • Driving operational excellence through COE partnerships: Collaborating closely with HR Centers of Excellence (COEs) - including Talent Acquisition, Total Rewards, HRIS, and Safety - ensuring the seamless integration and optimal application of HR services that drive operational excellence across all global plant locations.
  • Elevating talent acquisition and retention in manufacturing: Continuously raising the bar on talent by developing and implementing strategies to source, select, and retain top performers and critical talent within our global manufacturing environment.
  • Developing a culture of continuous feedback and accountability: Promoting an environment of ongoing feedback, driving higher performance standards within global plant operations, ensuring effective leadership, and embedding a strong culture of accountability at all levels.

  • A "boots on the floor" mentality and is a visible, credible HR leader with the ability to connect with leaders and employees at ALL levels of the organization, comfortably walking the shop floor and interacting with hourly employees, conducting roundtables to gauge organizational temperature.
  • Executive presence with the ability to quickly develop trust and credibility with the leadership team, and the capacity to sit in executive meetings, share HR strategy, reporting out in Monthly Business Reviews (MBRs), and socializing ideas with SVP level team members.

Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field. Master's in Business is preferred.
  • 12+ years of Human Resources experience, gained through progressive leadership roles.
  • Global HR leadership experience, as well as leading HR teams in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise across a broad spectrum of HR disciplines, including talent management, organizational efficiency, employee engagement, employee relations, project management, and process implementation.
  • Ability to travel up to 35% annual travel as needed nationally.
Physical & Environmental Requirements
Able to sit frequently.
Exposure to noise levels for which hearing protection is required to be worn over a full work shift (8-12 hours)
