Division of Animal Sciences Job Description
The Lee lab is seeking a candidate to work with a team of researchers in the Division of Animal Sciences and the United States Department of Agriculture - Agricultural Research Service. The incumbent will report to the Principal Investigator(s) to apply experience and expertise on projects focused on genetic engineering of pigs and poultry at the cellular and whole animal levels to improve production traits. Furthermore, the incumbent will maintain and keep records for the quail and chicken flocks that are housed within the Animal Science Research Center. Experience with cell culture, gene editing, and animal handling (pigs or poultry) is required. A breakdown of effort is highlighted below: 40% Cell culture: Establishment of cells lines from various tissues of pigs and poultry, gene editing of cells, and screening 30% Animal husbandry: Maintain quail and chicken flocks, keep records for animal rooms, notify PI when feed/other animal care items need to be ordered 20% Molecular biology: Design guide RNAs, assemble DNA constructs, perform routine molecular biology techniques (DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, qPCR, western blot, immunofluorescence, etc.) 10% Assisting PIs in protocol preparation, SOPs, and oversight of research As with all positions, involvement with other duties and responsibilities may be expected in order to support the mission and purpose of the University of Missouri. 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Monday - Friday Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary. Anticipated Hiring Range
The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $17.05-$29.69/hour. Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
