Job Summary |
The Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine seeks candidates for a Research Associate position, to support the development of complex project proposals, plans, and protocols; conduct non-routine experiments, investigations and/or studies related to skeletal muscle metabolism and peripheral artery disease; coordinates logistics of research to include equipment, materials, and labor needs; collect samples/data related to others' research and in complex cases; record, compile, process and analyze data/samples. |
Essential Functions |
- Planning, maintaining, and completing complex research programs and/or projects in the lab.
- Maintaining, managing, and organizing lab stocks,
- Helping establish baseline lab operations and safety protocols in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Coordinating setup and management of lab equipment including facilitating access to other labs' personnel for shared equipment.
- Overseeing training of students both undergraduate and graduate when they first start in the lab.
- Developing experimental designs and performing data collection/analysis.

Master's degree in biomedical sciences or related field. |

Minimum Skills and Abilities |
Candidates must be organized and independent with excellent written and interpersonal communication skills. Candidates will also need to have basic wet lab skills, including at least some experience with: cell culture, RT-
PCR, ability to prepare chemical solutions, sterile technique, and
DNA/
RNA extraction protocols. |
Minimum Technology Skills |
Basic computational literacy (experience with Microsoft Office or equivalent) plus the ability to learn new software as needed. |
