Position Summary |
Reporting to the Director of Learning and Engagement, this position plays a pivotal role in providing administrative and program support for the museum's Learning and Engagement Department. The Museum Programs Assistant is the primary point of contact for incoming requests for academic and public programming, and is responsible for scheduling university class visits, PK-12 tours, community tours, and adult group visits, ensuring prompt and professional correspondence with a range of audiences. Working closely with the Learning and Engagement Department and academic engagement teams, the Museum Programs Assistant assists with the planning and coordination of academic and public programs, including managing logistics and travel plans for visiting speakers and artists, providing program support as needed, and helping schedule volunteers for on- and off-site programs and community events. This position also supports many aspects of the museum's artmaking and wellness programming for community and campus audiences. Additionally, the role is responsible for maintaining various museum calendars, budget records, program attendance, generating reports, and other record-keeping for the department. |

- Possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Excellent front-line customer service, collaboration, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to exercise good judgment in a variety of situations and act with grace under pressure.
- Self-directed with the ability to take initiative and anticipate actions needed.
- Strong computer skills and competency in Microsoft Office Suite, and virtual meeting platforms such as Zoom.
- Excellent organizational, event and project management skills.
- Knowledge of Asana software a plus
- Proven ability to set goals and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize short-term and long-term projects.
- Experience with Collections management software TMS (The Museum System) a plus

- Provide program support as needed for academic and public programs, including PK-12 tours, family and community programs, and university class visits and academic engagement events.
- Assist with program and tour setup, check-in, and breakdown as needed
- Assist with gallery teaching, tours and gallery programs for academic and public audiences as needed
- Assist with researching objects, artists, and exhibitions and developing interpretive materials for a range of museum audiences
- Support the museum's art and wellness-focused programming for campus and community audiences, including artmaking workshops, yoga in the galleries, mindfulness programs, and others
