Traffic Control & Engineering is seeking a dedicated and driven Assistant Civil Engineer (ACE) to join our Queens Borough Engineering Office. The selected candidate will perform civil engineering work of moderate difficulty and responsibility, including but not limited to conducting a range of professional transportation and traffic-related projects, studies, research, and investigations. Responsibilities include documenting existing conditions and issues, proposing improvements, conducting field investigations, and potentially supervising staff. The role requires active participation in the inspection of operations by observing, checking, and certifying the installation of materials and equipment, as well as collecting data, conducting field surveys, and evaluating traffic conditions. Additionally, the candidate will review and approve work orders, ensure compliance with established guidelines and specifications, and may recommend enhancements to improve efficiency. The candidate must have proficient computer skills as the job involves data entry and the use of city-specific transportation software such as the Sign Information Management System (SIMS). Tasks also include preparing forms, reports, logs, and correspondence. Ideal candidates will be meticulous, accurate, effective team players, and must maintain a positive attitude coupled with outstanding communication skills. The office draws on the expertise and talents of engineers, sign designers, planners, inspectors, IT experts, analysts and others to help the agency achieve Vision Zero and other city goals.

Minimum Qualifications 1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in civil engineering and one year of full-time satisfactory experience in civil engineering work; or
2. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and a Master's degree from an accredited college in civil engineering.
