Position Overview
Essential Job Duties |
The postdoctoral scientist will conduct research focused on enzyme electrocatalysis as part of the Biocatalyst Interactions with Gases (
BIG) project funded by the Novo Nordisk Foundation (https://biocat.ncsu.edu/). The
BIG project consists of a team of researchers at NC State and Denmark Technical University (
DTU) that are studying the interface between surfaces and enzymes, with a particular focus on enzymes that transform carbon dioxide into bicarbonate and formate.
The postdoctoral scientist will assist with the electrochemical goals of the project, namely evaluation of methods to immobilize, encapsulate, or otherwise attach enzymes to electrodes to enable electron conduction to the enzyme. The research will consist of experimental work located in the Environmental Engineering Lab at NC State.
The postdoctoral scientist will be responsible for designing, conducting, and analyzing lab-based experiments focused on enzyme electrocatalysis. The postdoc is expected to work in the lab, meet with the supervisor to discuss research progress, join
BIG team meetings, assist in preparing manuscripts that summarize research findings, and present findings at conferences/symposia. |
