Position Summary

The Project Field Specialist acts as a technical representative for design-to-production contracts and sustainment contracts. The Project Field Specialist provides on-site support to provide technical assistance with testing, assembly, installation, preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and troubleshooting of Oceaneering Technologies (OTECH) equipment on behalf of Oceaneering International. The Project Field Specialist is an onsite position located in Hanover, MD. The Project Field Specialists will have the ability to travel domestically and overseas up to 20% of the year.


Duties And Responsibilities
  • Perform a variety of fundamental field services tasks with minimal supervision of a senior level engineer; involved in the installation, operation, testing, and maintenance of electro-mechanical equipment and systems.
  • Interface with all phases of assembly and manufacturing; ensure input at an early stage for appropriate system design with supervision.
  • Assists in developing manufacturing and installation cost-benefit analysis input.
  • Assist in conducting research and reference reading to assist programs in obtaining technical information and keeping informed of currently approved standards, codes, and procedures applied to various engineering disciplines.
  • Assist with generating sections of design specifications of more complex projects or complete specifications of less complex projects.
  • Augment engineering process at design reviews with manufacturing / field experience.
  • Assist in the red-lining of drawing packages to reflect "as-Built" status of equipment.
  • Plan and carry out successive engineering steps and resolve technical problems by standard practices and techniques such as tolerance studies and design calculations.
  • Provide resolution to manufacturing problems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electro-mechanical systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair fiberoptic systems.
  • Conduct laboratory investigations and root cause analyses on equipment or systems.
  • Support projects with limited scope, or parts of more complex projects with detailed instructions on the intent and scope of the documents to be prepared.
  • Support projects with limited logistics support.
  • Assist in creation / updates of maintenance manuals, documents, and drawings.
  • Proficient with ANSI Y14.5, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, AWS D1.1,2.
  • Assist in preparation of reports, correspondence, or technical studies.
  • Prepare, deliver, and submit technical presentations for in-process design and review meetings.
  • Perform all other position-related duties as assigned or requested.
  • Some travel will be required, including sporadic offshore work, extended workdays and work weeks, with limited communications for continuous (1-2 months) periods of time.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

REQUIRED :

  • Advanced knowledge of applicable Subsea & Seabed Warfare (SSW) engineering concepts, principles, and familiarity with related engineering fields.
  • Minimum 5-9 years of experience in field operations including fabrication, assembly, installation and testing of SSW electro-mechanical systems, including hydraulics, propulsion, manipulator, fiber optic, navigation, and subsea environmental sensing equipment.
  • Professional knowledge of applicable engineering concepts and principles and a familiarity with related engineering fields.
  • Practical knowledge of test methods and practices sufficient to perform routine to more complex engineering procedures and to prepare or make minor modifications of standard test procedures or test equipment work instructions.
  • Experience with preparation of progress reports, job completion estimates, and cost estimating essential.
  • Well versed with ANSI Y14.5, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, AWS D1.1,2.
  • Able to read / understand Engineering electrical and mechanical schematics / drawings.
  • Current Top Secret security clearance.

DESIRED:

  • TS/SCI clearance and Counterintelligence (CI) polygraph.
  • Bachelor's degree or greater in related field. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience directly related to construction, installation, testing, and maintenance of undersea equipment.

Annualized pay rate for this position : $85000 - $115000.
