Your responsibilities
Job Summary Plan, direct, coordinate, and manage the transportation operations within a facility or across facilities, as determined. Job Description

Key Accountabilities:

  • Arrange trucks for delivery to customers.
  • Meet all production and distribution objectives and deadlines within the established budget.
  • Teach, coach, and demonstrate work activities for team members.
  • Responsible for coordinating, assigning, and reviewing work.
  • Direct staff on priority of work to accomplish.
  • Accountable for ensuring that all team members receive required instruction in safety procedures, proper use of equipment, performance standards, disciplinary processes and other workplace and Company policies, procedures and practices.
  • Management of function and/or facility to meet budget and business objectives
  • Direct investigations to verify and resolve customer or shipper issues.
  • Collaborate with other managers and staff members to formulate and implement policies, procedures, goals, and objectives.
  • Monitor operations to ensure that staff members comply with government regulations, administrative policies and procedures, safety rules, and Lean program.
  • Monitor working conditions regularly to ensure the safety of all team members. Take timely corrective action as required and disciplinary action as necessary.
  • Promote safe work activities by conducting safety audits, attending company safety meetings, and meeting with individual staff members.
  • This is a position that works directly around motor vehicle equipment.
  • Participate, support, and comply with all health, safety and 6S initiatives and requirements.
  • Manage contract carriers for customer deliveries, using tools provided to control cost.
  • Maintain Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reports as required by management and or customers.
  • Communicate relevant delivery information back to sales to ensure the highest level of service to our customers.
  • Record and allocate all requests for pickup and delivery for all customer freight, the movement of material between Ken-Mac facilities, and freight to and from outside processors and /or vendors.
  • Manage loading and securement of materials.
  • Other duties assigned by the Operations Manager or Plant Manager
  • Maintain positive culture in dealing with both internal and external customers and meeting objectives for on-time delivery and performance criteria.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma required; associate or bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • 1-2 years previous experience in management or supervisory role.
  • 3-5 years prior experience in the transportation industry.
  • Solid knowledge of government regulations within the trucking industry.
  • Strong time management and coordination skills, verbal and written communication skills, and critical thinking/problem resolution ability.
  • Safety Mindset
  • Experience in SAP or similar ERP systems a plus
  • Experience with MS Excel and Word

Preferred Requirements:

  • 4 Year Bachelor's Degree
  • Bachelor's degree in business, transportation, or related field of study Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Prior experience/exposure to domestic and international logistics and transportation
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and at a fast pace.
  • Ability to balance team and individual responsibilities; exhibits objectivity and openness to others' views; able to give feedback; puts success of team above own interests; and contributes to building a positive team attitude.
  • Previous experience as freight management.
