Job Details per diemJob Description With a commitment to patient- and family-centered care, the Certified Surgical Technician functions as a member of the intraoperative healthcare team. Performs specific tasks to assist the surgical team in ways that values the uniqueness of each individual and addresses the physical, psychological, emotional, and social needs of the diversity of patients served by Jefferson Health, and is competent to provide care for all patient populations. The Certified Surgical Technician (CST) (TS-C) is responsible for the creation and maintenance of the sterile field. The Technician accurately and efficiently anticipates surgeon's needs intraoperatively by applying comprehensive knowledge of operative procedures, equipment, anatomy and surgeons' preferences. The Certified Surgical Technician (CST) (TS-C) works closely with all perioperative team members during the preoperative, intraoperative, and post-operative care of the surgical patient. The Certified Surgical Technician also supports decontamination and sterile supply area, and maintains courteous and professional interactions with the patients and staff. The Certified Surgical Technician will also be required to precept. Essential Functions

Clinical Policies and Standards Knowledge of and ability to use industry standards, policies and procedures relevant to function and organization. Healthcare Facilities Management Knowledge of the physical environment and full spectrum of activities in developing and maintaining physical facilities. Patient Safety Knowledge of the risks faced by patients in a healthcare environment, and the ability to take steps to reduce these risks. Medical Safety Knowledge of the common types of equipment or devices used in the healthcare industry, and the ability to use these in patient care. Surgical Assistance Knowledge of surgical assistance techniques and ability to successfully complete surgical procedures in compliance with applicable health and safety standards. Operating Room Management Knowledge of and ability to apply appropriate policies, procedures and management methods to maximize operating room efficiency and productivity. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: Education: High School Diploma/equivalent required. Graduate of a surgical technician training program. AND Experience: Prior surgical technician experience preferred Minimum Certifications, Registration or License Requirements: Surgical technician must maintain their required certification. BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
