Job Description:

Airbus US Manufacturing Facility is looking for a to join our Manufacturing department based in Mobile, AL

A Quality Conformance Manager will work in a multi-disciplinary environment. Ensure SMS implementation and operations at the level of his/her organization. Ensure Safety Risk/Threat Management for safety issues (e.g. systemic), Safety Assurance and Safety Promotion within his/her organization. Ensure consistency between Safety objectives defined at Corporate level and local Safety objectives.

Contributes to the local Airbus FAL AOS (Airbus Operating System) Industrial strategy by defining, leading, coaching and deploying AOS ways of working within the Quality teams. With applicable technical business process knowledge, the jobholder will address systemic operational performance issues with piloted, standardized and sustainable solutions through the Airbus Operating System.

Nearby on 'Airbus Way' you will find the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility for commercial aircraft. Opened at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley in 2015, the facility produces A320 Family aircraft and added a second product line for the A220 in 2019. Your challenges:

Primary Responsibilities (80%):

  • Safety Management System (SMS) Officer Delegate:

The employee is expected to be the SMS Officer Delegate for "O" organization with the following Roles and Responsibilities.

Activities:

  • Received SMS training and became part of the SMS Officers community.

  • Support / Animate / Train the local network of Safety Reps.

  • Receives Speak-up subjects, assess and allocate SMS network employees to SMS cases and coordinate with Originator.

  • Support and coordinate SMS cases to resolution, including escalation in case of difficulties.

  • Maintain SMS files and records to EASA expectation level.

  • Coordinate and support internal and external audits.

  • Implement/develop/maintain the 4 SMS pillars activities.

  • Identifies Aviation Safety topics - Threats (from behaviours, projects, gemba...) and Manage the topics via "The Management of Change".

  • Deploy/Coordinate and Manage SMS KPI, Objectives and Maturity Assessment.

  • Report key Safety topics to Function SMS.

  • Support the product Safety information & training cascade.

  • Promote Aviation Safety Culture.

  • As part of the POA, follow and provide awareness to the SMS regulatory documentation. Be familiar and able to use the Human factor checklist and PPS tool.

  • AOS Specialist:

  • Support to Identify applicable AOS bricks to enhance the Quality Department efficiency within the AOS frame: HSE / EEM / PSE / PCL and PEM domains of excellence.

  • Create and deploy the selected bricks deployment strategy, including:

    • Using PDCA, deploy the identified bricks deployment strategy to reach the approved target maturity.

    • Identify Key performance indicators to drive business performance. Includes monthly portfolio performance reviews and necessary corrective actions.

    • Identify and Manage a team of AOS Change agents and ensure team development plans are in place to continually grow the team's competency by coaching and mentoring (learning paths/development) all necessary individuals (Blue and White Collars).

    • Grow the knowledge and autonomy of Leaders, Supervisors and Managers and dedicated improvers by supporting the implementation of AOS/Lean standards and continuous improvement solutions.

    • Ensure Alignment with core functional AOS site representative to ensure consistency with AOS industrial assessment scoring and where necessary support in the implementation/creation of new AOS Standards/Bricks.

Secondary Responsibilities (15%):

  • Innovation:

  • Identify areas for improvement where "new" technology could provide cost savings and/or efficiency gain. Perform regular surveys by observation, discussion, non-compliance review, hot topics, repetitive items, Production Stations and Customer Line feed-back, end Customers irritants, etc...

  • Scout for new technology, in the Airbus network, suppliers, vendors, etc...

  • Participate and support the creation of a portfolio and business case.

  • In case of business case approval, support deployment.

Additional Responsibilities (5%):

  • Able to follow all OSHA, People / Aircraft safety and environmental regulations.

  • Able to follow and encourage People Safety by using applicable PPE, following and exceeding Safety requirements.

  • Able to be focused and promote Airbus values and Airbus leadership Model.

  • Able to communicate in writing and verbally to various levels internally and externally.

  • Able to understand specification, regulation and various technical documentation.

  • Able to analyse data and perform Risk assessment.

  • Able to perform PPS, 5 whys and introduction to Human factor.

Qualified Experience and Training:

Education:

  • Minimum Bachelors in Aeronautical field is preferred or a related field of Technical Management.

Experience:

  • 8 to 10 plus years minimum of experience, preferred in Aerospace field.

  • Experience in a Process driving culture is required.

  • Experience in Mentoring/Teaching is required.

  • Understanding of AOS principle (preferred) or Lean principles.

Physical Requirements:

  • Lifting, Carrying, Pushing/Pulling, Sitting, Standing, Squatting/Kneeling, Walking, Speaking, Hearing, Vision, Manual Dexterity, Travel. Include estimated time or percentage for each factor and maximum weight for lifting.

  • Vision: adequate to enter and read material on computer screens. Able to identify individuals to initiate greetings, the giving of directions and other business interactions Hearing: able to hear sufficiently to engage in conversation in office settings. Able to hear safety alerts and warning signals.

  • Speaking: able to engage in conversations in person and via electronic means and deliver information to groups of varying size with or without amplification.

  • Equipment Operation: Able to operate a wide range of personal and office electronic equipment. Working on jigs at the fuselage at a height of 15 feet. Able to work on hydraulic lifts sometimes at a height of up to 40 feet.

  • Carrying: able to occasionally carry up to 55lbs/25kg while engaging in training, addressing production issues or as part of continuous improvement projects.

  • Lifting: able to occasionally lift up to 55lbs/25kg.

  • Pushing/Pulling: able to push/pull items in office areas.

  • Sitting: able to sit for extended periods of time at the computer and in meetings. Squatting/Kneeling: able to occasionally squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items shelved on bottom shelves.

  • Standing: able to stand for extended periods of time.
