Pay Range: $92,206.40 - $191,505.60
While some work will be done remotely, consistent travel will also be required. Preference will be given to candidates in the Pacific and Mountain time zones.
Job Description Summary:
Provides collaborative leadership for the integration of oncology nursing practice, education, and research to advance the delivery of nursing and inter-professional continuum-based care. Responsible for the clinical practice of nursing within the assigned region which includes developing, evaluating, and sustaining efficient work processes and establishing standard metrics to gauge optimal quality and safe patient care. Provides education and documents competency for nursing staff regarding AON policies, procedures, and clinical practice requirements. Collaborates and actively participates on AON Nursing Council, partnering with physician leadership and executive management to set vision and strategic priorities. Oversees project development and implementation impacting nursing practice as delegated by AON nursing council. Oversees assigned nursing team and implements nursing education and standard operating nursing practices, including safe clinical practices and competency. Remains current with trends and changes in nursing profession/practice and holds accountability for ensuring staff in region adheres to and maintains all regulatory/licensure requirements.
Key Performance Areas:
Collaborate and actively participate on AON Nursing Council to support establishing and maintaining standards for nursing practice. Oversee regional nursing staff and ensure adherence/compliance to AON policies and safe clinical practices. Maintain necessary regulatory and compliance approvals and ensure all guidelines, regulations, and standards are followed. Develop and deliver education, assess competency, and ensure adherence to AON patient care programs. Ensure utilization of approved documents and consents in relation to daily nursing practice for all locations in region. Collaborate with Clinical Nurse Managers in assigned region, acting as a clinical resource and liaison between nursing and corporate centralized services. Research and outline RN and LPN Scope of Practice by state and ensure compliance for practices in region. Oversee and manage Nursing Team initiatives for assigned region. Partner with regional clinical pharmacist to implement clinical initiatives and process improvements to optimize clinic performance, patient safety, and best practices in drug delivery. Oversee and ensure Chart Audit Processes are completed/signed. Oversee care management team resources for practice locations, including dieticians and clinical staff (RN, LPNs, MAs) to support clinical forms, refills, new patient intake, and telephone calls. Manage costs by continually seeking data that will identify opportunities to eliminate non-value costs. Represent nurses and nursing issues, concerns, and recommendations from assigned region/practices. Represent nursing on the Pharmacy & Therapeutic Committee. Host monthly nursing leadership meetings with regional nurse leaders to provide updates regarding new/revised SOP, procedures, organizational initiatives, and receive practice feedback. Comply with all Federal and State laws and regulations pertaining to patient care, patient rights, safety, billing, and collections. Adhere to all AON and departmental policies and procedures, including IT policies and procedures and Disaster Recovery Plan Always maintain and ensure the confidentiality of all patient and employee information. Partner with Sr. Management and Human Resources to create strategies and an environment that will encourage recruiting and retention of nursing employees. Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Managerial Duties: Incumbent has authority to initiate actions and make decisions within established precedents or well-defined policy with regular managerial direction and review. Oversee daily activities of department to maximize scheduling and real-time utilization of resources. Interface with management to ensure smooth flow of work through department. Participate in daily, weekly, monthly, and annual planning process as appropriate, both regionally and as required/needed for AON Nursing Council. Perform all duties and responsibilities in a timely and effective manner in accordance with established company policies to achieve the overall objectives of this position. Maintain a favorable working relationship with all other company employees to foster and promote a cooperative and harmonious working climate which will be conducive to maximum employee morale, productivity, efficiency, and effectiveness. Project a favorable image of the company to promote its vision and objectives and foster and enhance public recognition and acceptance of all company endeavors. Inform Leadership of all problems or unusual matters of significance and takes prompt corrective action where necessary or suggests alternative courses of action. Report identified areas of improvement for patient care and best clinical practice to executive leadership and AON Nursing Council for evaluation, recommendations, and management. Must be RN licensed in the state of employment and obtain and maintain multi-state licensure OCN Certification required. Valid state Driver's License for travel to satellite offices and offsite meetings. Compliance with the company Driver Safety Operations and Motor Vehicle Records Check Policy is required.
Previous Experience:
10 years demonstrated progressive managerial success overseeing nursing and clinical operations. At least 5 years' experience in community oncology nursing experience. Expert with medical information systems and medical claims payment processes. Thorough knowledge of clinical criteria and application required along with a working knowledge of evidence-based methods (NCCN) preferred. Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook. Experience with preparing reports, presentations, procedural documents, and the ability to effectively present the information is required. Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills and with demonstrated ability to work effectively with others. Consistent use of discretion and good judgment in communicating with executives, physicians, providers, team members, patients, and family members in required. Must be self-directed, capable of independently carrying out job functions, and must be able to effectively manage extremely stressful situations.
