Summary

The Procurement Manager is responsible for converting deep category expertise, functional business requirements, and stakeholder needs into professional sourcing, supplier selection, and on-boarding events. The Sourcing Manager role is considered a critical position within Weisiger Group's sourcing and procurement team, and reports to the PSG Director. The role can provide upward mobility with a fast-growing organization, and entails extensive visibility to Weisiger Group executives, functional leaders, and key stakeholders.

The Procurement Manager will be directly responsible for all aspects of strategic sourcing, including go-to-market messaging, supplier selection, supplier onboarding, service level agreement and cost negotiation, contract development, policy development, supplier management, risk management, continuous improvement, supplier performance measurement, and routine supplier evaluations using balanced KPI scorecards (or similar methodologies). The Procurement Manager works closely with Weisiger Group's functional business leaders to understand critical business requirements, forecasted volumes, service levels, quality specification, and other similar requirements, and in turn devises flexible sourcing strategies to meet these needs in a manner aligned to business requirements, strategies, and cost mandates.

The Procurement Manager is a full-time, salaried, competitively compensated position with an annual performance-based bonus opportunity should key performance benchmarks be successfully met.

Essential Functions

  • Quickly develops a comprehensive understanding of Weisiger Group end-to-end operations (core business, business unit focus, etc.) to master fundamental sourcing and procurement dimensions across the enterprise
  • Responsible for managing the entire category spend over which the Sourcing Manager has been assigned
  • Develops professional, high-impact, and insightful go-to-market messaging documents (e.g., RFI's and RFP's) to showcase Weisiger Group's buyer-of-choice philosophy
  • Manages and drives the published sourcing event calendar to ensure that events are launched on-time and effectively managed from sourcing to on-boarding
  • Provides routine updates to the Procurement director and other senior leaders regarding sourcing calendar status, in-flight sourcing events, supplier performance, costs, budget impacts and compliance issues
  • Works to develop contract-based strategic supplier partnerships for assigned suppliers and categories including performance management plans
  • Maintains a proactive understanding of supplier options by geography and capability
  • Develops the cost structure for services based on geography and service provided
  • Leads Request for Information (RFI), Request for Quotation (RFQ) and Request for Proposal (RFP) processes
  • Responsible for supplier lifecycle management, including supplier onboarding, performance and risk management, and termination
  • Ensures that suppliers can deliver the goods, products, and service services contracted for, such that cost, quality, volume, and timeliness satisfy current and emerging Weisiger Group requirements
  • Negotiates contracts working with the Procurement Director
  • Utilizes existing KPI's, develops new KPIs as required, and generates routine spend, performance, and issues reports to effectively monitor supplier performance
  • Communicates directly with suppliers to proactively remediate issues and identified risks
  • Develops and enforces internal policies related to sourcing and procurement
  • Works closely with internal leaders, customers, and stakeholders to ensure that goods, products, and services received consistently meet Weisiger Group standards
  • Works cross-functionally with suppliers and Weisiger Group customers and stakeholders to manage service and/or quality-related issues (e.g., on-time delivery, on-time completion, etc.) through problem solving and rapid solution deployment
  • Responsible for providing finance with information related to actual spend for annual budgeting and monthly-quarterly-annual cash flow projections
  • Responsible for maintaining relevant data tables in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, such as supplier master, lead times, and costs
  • Works cross-functionally across the business to identify continuous improvement opportunities
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • Four-year accredited college diploma (bachelor's or global equivalent), preferably in supply chain management, business administration, or related fields
  • Professional certifications relevant to the role, such as Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM), Lean and/or Six Sigma Green Belt, or similar pursuit are beneficial
  • Minimum ten to twelve years of experience in a supply chain, sourcing, and/or procurement-based role within the manufacturing, distribution, transportation, or similar industries
  • Experience (included as part of the overall ten to twelve years of experience, above) which includes identifying and developing new supplier relationships, negotiating terms, executing purchases with suppliers, and providing hands-on supplier performance management expertise
  • Experience working in a complex, cross-functional environment consisting of multiple functional stakeholders, suppliers, and senior business leaders
  • Demonstrated responsibility for professionally managing a minimum of $25,000,000 to $30,000,000 in category spend across the total experience level above

Demonstrated Competencies

  • Proven ability to effectively manage complex sourcing operations with a clear focus on high-performance, cost management, and continuous improvement
  • Strong, demonstrable information technology category expertise including software systems procurement, specifications generation, sourcing experience, and performance management of IT-related suppliers
  • Strong knowledge of sourcing and procurement best practices
  • Understanding of manufacturing, distribution, and transportation industries
  • Proven ability to develop RFIs, RFQs, RFPs, and related supplier contracts
  • Analytically minded individual with proven ability to analyze spend, measure key performance indicators-trending and make regular data-driven decisions to optimize supplier performance, category performance, and reduce enterprise procurement costs
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and train subordinate personnel to effectively execute responsibilities and drive high-performance outcomes
  • Ability to operate in a highly entrepreneurial, dynamic workplace
  • Ability to create a highly positive working experience in a high-stress environment
  • Functional knowledge of ERP and Procure-to-Pay (P2P) systems
  • Deep competence in Microsoft Office suite including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Power BI which includes data extraction, compilation, data table development, pivot table development, and other similar analytical functions to translate available data into actionable intelligence driving performance, lower risk, and cost-out opportunities
