Overview

VTG is seeking a Senior Systems (Cybersecurity) Analyst to bolster the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) Cyber Engineering and Digital Innovation Directorate (SEA 03C)'s incident response capabilities at the Washington Navy Yard. This hybrid role will directly support the SEA 03C Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) and Cybersecurity Planning and Response Center (CPRC) Director, ensuring a high state of readiness for cyber incidents impacting Navy control systems aboard afloat platforms. The scope encompasses Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical (HM&E), Combat, Navigation, Industrial Control Systems (ICS), SCADA, and other Operational Technology (OT) systems.


What will you do?

  • Incident Response & Readiness: Lead and support responses to real-world cyber incidents, preparedness drills, and exercise evolutions. Conduct thorough after-action reviews (AARs), analyzing CPRC process effectiveness, documenting lessons learned, and recommending improvements.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Liaise with key stakeholders across the Fleet, SYSCOM, and NAVSEA (including PEOs, Directorates, Warfare Centers, System Owners, and Programs of Record) to ensure coordinated incident response, exercise execution, and overall cybersecurity posture.
  • CPRC Procedure Management: Develop, maintain, and update NAVSEA CPRC Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Playbooks, ensuring alignment with government policies, best practices, and evolving threats.
  • Executive Communication: Prepare comprehensive reports, briefings, and presentations for Flag-level leadership, effectively communicating technical, financial aspects of cybersecurity initiatives, incident response activities, and milestone decisions.
  • CPRC Operations: Manage and operate CPRC telecommunications equipment, including classified and unclassified audio/video systems, ensuring seamless communication during critical events.
  • Technical Liaison: Serve as a technical interface with PEO IWS, NAVSEA, NAVAIR, NAVFAC, NAVWAR, MARCORSYSCOM, and various support/in-service engineering agents to ensure compliance with Integrated Combat System cybersecurity requirements.
  • Task Management & Tracking: Maintain records of internal and external tasks, utilizing databases and tracking systems to ensure timely completion and effective resource allocation.

Do you have what it takes?

Required skills:

  • 10+ years of U.S. Navy experience demonstrating in-depth knowledge of shipboard systems and operations.
  • Comprehensive understanding of DoD and DoN cybersecurity policies and regulations.
  • Proven experience with Combat Systems and engineering support within PEO IWS or NAVSEA.
  • Strong understanding of the NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF) and its application to OT environments.
  • Experience developing and implementing security policies and procedures specifically for OT systems.
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical cybersecurity concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Exceptional cognitive, communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills.
  • CompTIA Security+ certification or equivalent.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance with the ability to maintain it.

Preferred Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of Navy Control Systems, including HM&E, Combat, AEGIS, Navigation, ICS, SCADA, and other OT systems.
  • Familiarity with specialized cybersecurity considerations for ICS and OT as outlined in NIST SP 800-82.
  • GICSP, CISSP, GRID, or other GIAC certifications.
  • Demonstrated experience in cyber incident response policy and playbook development.
  • Navy Test & Evaluation (T&E) experience.
  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance.

Pay Range: VTG's estimated starting pay range is $90,000-$130,000 annually, which is a general guideline for the geographic location. When extending an offer, VTG also considers work experience, education, skill level, market considerations and may possibly include contractual requirements which may cause an offer to fall outside of this range.
