Job Summary The Maintenance Coordinator at UFP Industries in Union City, GA plant is primarily responsible for scheduling and coordinating all maintenance activities across multiple shifts. This role ensures that preventative and corrective maintenance tasks are planned, communicated, and executed efficiently to support continuous operations in lumber assembly, treatment, and shipping. While the focus is on administrative coordination, the role also includes occasional hands-on support for basic maintenance tasks and troubleshooting. Principle Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a weekly maintenance schedule for all shifts, ensuring alignment with production needs and technician availability.
- Coordinate with maintenance supervisors, technicians, and production teams to prioritize and assign work orders.
- Track and update maintenance activities using MaintainX or other scheduling tools.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance history, equipment performance, and technician assignments.
- Ensure all scheduled maintenance complies with OSHA and UFP safety standards, including lock-out/tag-out procedures.
- Communicate clearly with all departments and leadership regarding planned maintenance, equipment downtime, and urgent repairs.
- Monitor and manage parts inventory; initiate procurement requests and organize materials in designated storage areas.
- Assist with basic mechanical troubleshooting, inspections, and minor repairs using a variety of hand and power tools.
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance tasks as assigned by a supervisor.
- Read and interpret basic machine schematics with minimal guidance.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Lift, move, push, pull, and carry materials weighing up to 20 lbs frequently and up to 50 lbs unaccompanied.
- Display a positive, team-oriented attitude and support management objectives.
- Follow directions well and demonstrate a willingness to learn.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure overall plant success.
- Participate in plant audits, inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support plant operations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Strong background in the maintenance and repair of industrial equipment in a manufacturing environment is desirable
- Valid state driver's license required
- Comfortable using basic hand and power tools, including cordless drills, clamps, and presses
- Familiarity with related hand tools and troubleshooting equipment
- Familiarity with hydraulic and pneumatic systems is a plus
- Willingness to learn and apply precision measuring techniques (e.g., calipers, micrometers, dial indicators)
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Experience with maintenance scheduling software (e.g., MaintainX) is preferred
