As a Forensic Security Employee Trainee, you will learn to provide care and treatment services to mentally ill patients referred by the criminal justice system. You will participate in a full-time training program that includes formal instruction and close supervision. Our training program will teach you to provide daily routine care for patients while maintaining a safe, secure environment. You will assist patients in accomplishing day-to-day living activities, provide assistance based on individual patient needs, and actively engage patients in a therapeutic manner. Your work will take place within the secure Regional Forensic Psychiatric Center.

The first eight weeks of classroom training will be on day shift, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Following the classroom training, you will be assigned to one of two shifts with a requirement to work every other weekend. You must be able to rotate between the 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM shift and the 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM shift for the one-year training period. You will be assigned to each shift for four consecutive months before rotating to the other shift.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 40 hours per week

• You will work a rotating schedule with a 30-minute lunch and every other weekend off.

  • 1st shift: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM

  • 2nd shift: 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM

• Overtime will be required in this position.

• Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $45,588 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Completion of the tenth school grade; or
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements:

• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

• A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and drug screening.
• This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
  • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
