Job Summary

The Development Manager, Technology Innovation will lead and oversee the design, development, and implementation of cutting-edge technological solutions that drive innovation within the organization. This role involves managing a team of developers and engineers, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and identifying opportunities to leverage new technologies to meet business goals. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership abilities, a passion for innovation, and a solid technical background in software development.

Job Responsibilities

Lead Technology Development Projects: Manage and oversee the end-to-end development of innovative technology solutions from concept to deployment, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with business objectives.

Drive Innovation Initiatives: Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to identify opportunities for technological innovation that can enhance business processes, products, and services.

Manage Development Team: Provide leadership, mentorship, and technical guidance to a team of developers and engineers, ensuring high-quality work.

Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with stakeholders, product managers, and other departments to define project requirements, priorities, and deliverables that align with business goals.

Develop Prototypes and Proofs of Concept: Lead the creation of prototypes, proofs of concept, and pilot projects to validate new technologies and solutions.

Ensure Best Practices in Software Development: Establish and enforce design and coding standards and quality assurance processes to ensure high performance and scalability of solutions. Create solutions for automated code and functional quality and continuous integration / deployment. Ensure architecture supports highly scalable and available deployments.

Risk Management: Identify potential technology / architecture risks in development projects and implement mitigation strategies to avoid delays or issues in the delivery process.

Foster a Culture of Innovation: Promote a culture of continuous learning and innovation within the development team by encouraging exploration of new ideas, tools, and technologies.

Vendor and Partner Management: Work with external technology vendors, partners, and consultants to integrate new technologies and drive innovation strategies.

Education

A Bachelor's degree in business administration, health administration, public health, computer science, or related field

Preferred:

Master's degree preferred

Experience

Required:

Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in software development, with at least 3 years in technology innovation, R&D, or a related area.

3+ years of experience in a managerial role, leading development teams.

Strong understanding of emerging technologies (AI, machine learning, IoT, blockchain, cloud computing, etc.) and their application in real-world business scenarios.

Proven track record of delivering innovative technology solutions in a fast-paced environment.

Technical skills

Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript, or other relevant languages.

Experience with modern development frameworks and tools (e.g., React, Node.js, Docker, Kubernetes).

Knowledge of cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).

Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.

Understanding of emerging technologies (AI, machine learning, blockchain, IoT, etc.) and their potential applications in business.

Preferred

Five years of experience in the healthcare provider or hospital setting, preferably with experience at essential or safety net hospitals

Familiarity with mergers and acquisitions, angel investing and equity partnerships a plus.

Skills/Certs/License

Working understanding of the innovation landscape, and ecosystem including emerging technologies, culture shifts.

Working understanding of the healthcare industry in a hospital and clinic setting

Excellent analytical, strategic conceptual thinking skills.

Strong influence and negotiation skills.

Ability to effectively drive people, process and disruptive change in a dynamic and complex operating environment.

Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain new concepts and technologies to business leaders, and business concepts to technologists.
