The Emergency Response Manager is responsible for responding, overseeing and coordinating all emergency response activities. This role involves managing response teams, developing emergency response plans, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. The Emergency Response Manager will work closely with local authorities, clients, and internal teams to ensure effective and efficient response to environmental emergencies.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Emergency Response Planning

  • Develop and implement comprehensive emergency response plans.
  • Coordinate with local authorities and clients to establish response protocols.
  • Ensure all response plans comply with relevant safety regulations and standards.

Team Management

  • Lead and manage emergency response teams during incidents.
  • Conduct regular training and drills to ensure team readiness.
  • Evaluate team performance and provide feedback for improvement.

Incident Management

  • Coordinate and oversee response activities during environmental emergencies.
  • Assess incident situations and develop appropriate response strategies.
  • Ensure timely communication with all stakeholders during emergencies.

Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure all response activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of incidents and response actions.
  • Prepare and submit required reports to client and regulatory agencies.

Stakeholder Communication

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients during emergency incidents.
  • Communicate effectively with local authorities, regulatory agencies, and internal teams.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to clients and management.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree Emergency Management, or a related field.

Experience: At least 5 years of experience in emergency response, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience:

  • IAEM Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) or ability to obtain within 1 year from date of hire.
  • Experience working with hazardous materials and waste management.
  • Multimedia sampling experience
  • Familiarity with incident command systems and emergency operations centers.
  • Previous experience in a consulting or environmental services firm.

Desired Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong understanding of surface water sampling methods and techniques
  • Ability to remain calm and make effective decisions under pressure.
  • Proficiency in using emergency response software and tools.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to develop and deliver training programs.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Availability to travel at a moment's notice.

Work Environment

This position will require periods of independent work with minimal supervision. The nature of EnviroScience's typical emergency response project includes mobilization on short notice. The successful candidate will be comfortable with making decisions in a rapidly changing environment. There will be overnight travel and work outdoors in all types of weather, in remote and challenging locations. Frequently, work locations include proximity to waterways and bodies of water which require the establishment and coordination of interim characterization, cleanup and protection measures.

Hybrid work from home/work from office scenarios can be accommodated; however, working from home will require a reliable internet connection capable of hosting video conferencing and large file transfers. Office space will also be provided at the nearest EnviroScience branch for your use.

Reports to**: Compliance Services Operations Manager

Works with Inside Company: ER Team comprised of employees from multiple departments at EnviroScience.

Works with Outside Company: Clients and contractors as necessary for each project.

Working Conditions: Variable, including outdoors.

Supervisor Responsibilities:

Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 35lbs and navigate uneven terrain such as stream banks, ravines, and right of ways.

Travel Requirements: Up to 65% travel based on emergency response project load.

*This position is classified as exempt based on the job duties.
