Job Overview
The Business Banking Sales Manager oversees a team of Business Bankers. Supervise, guide, motivate, train and mentor members of the lending team to drive a consistent sales process within assigned geography. Reports sales results to Business Banking Department Head and Senior Management.
Job Description
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Motivate, guide, and direct the staff to ensure a superior level of performance and all regional goals are met or exceeded.
  • Originate new business through calls and visits to existing and prospective customers, site visits/inspections, and meetings.
  • Coordinate, participate in, prepare, and conduct meetings related to lending practices, credit quality, strategic planning, etc.
  • Actively participate in community functions by volunteering for civic functions, serving on boards, task forces, etc.
  • Inform executive/senior management of the performance of the team.
  • Develop short and long-term goals for their market, as well as participate in other strategic planning.
  • Provide quality customer service to existing customers and accounts through problem resolution.
  • Expand existing relationships with customers by cross selling other financial institution products and services.
  • Work with credit to approve deals submitted by their team.
  • Oversees Business Bankers in the interviewing of loan applicants, analyzing financial and related data to establish credit worthiness, establishing and negotiating credit terms, and monitoring customers' credit. As necessary, performs these duties for complex loans.
  • Responsible for development, retention and recruitment of talent.
  • Conducts employee performance reviews and handles personnel issues.
  • Weekly call planning and joint calls with each Business Banker.
  • Coordinate pipeline and other team sales meetings.
  • Create collaboration with all internal Valley partners for cross-sell opportunities to achieve goals.
Requirements
Required Skills:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required for major contact with customers, board members, and executive management with extensive knowledge of lending services and related areas.
  • High level of interpersonal and social skills in order to present information in one-on-one situations, to small groups, customers and prospects.
  • Strong business development, customer relations, and decision-making skills are essential to meet and discuss credit / business issues with business owners, nonprofit executives and community leaders.
  • Ability to sell, negotiate deal terms and pricing structure.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to establish goals and motivate staff to meet those goals.
Required Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in business or finance with a minimum of 7 years bank lending or related management experience.
