In the role of Area Business Group Manager, we will count on you to:



  • Continue and work to enhance our culture of excellence where the best people in business can thrive and desire to be every single day.
  • Monitor and drive plan year operation metrics in NFE, profitability and utilization
  • Oversee BG Leaders, cross sectors, and project managers to establish a collaborative, engaged, supported, client centered and technically excellent business group that functions as one team
  • Take responsibility for development strategies, new business prospects, technical services, quality, and production methods and standards, all within established goals and objectives of the business group, region and company
  • Support and promote the national Transportation BG initiatives
  • Develop, implement, and maintain effective area business group programs
  • Lead Area BG communications
  • Provide staff development, morale, and retention
  • Engage in staff recognition/discipline and participate in employee performance improvement plans as necessary
  • Conduct risk mitigation, project reviews, quality assurance, workload planning
  • Delegate daily business activity and delivery to direct reports
  • Participate in annual planning and budgeting and monitor group financial performance
  • Participate in a MOA Role with certain actions delegated to Area BG Project Delivery Leader
  • Serve as a PM/PIC for select set of major clients
  • Be involved in strategic pursuits, key staff recruiting
  • Market presence and active in community and advancing industry issues


Preferred Qualifications



  • Maintains a professional or engineering registration and has related technical experience
  • Excellent communication, motivation, and organizational skills
  • Time management skills on delivering on multiple business group tasks that overlap and may conflict
  • Possess integrity, self-awareness, and empathy toward internal staff, and professionals
  • Exemplify decision making skills, accountability, and adaptability
  • Preference given to local candidates

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a Professional, Architecture, Engineering or closely related field
  • A minimum of 10 years experience
  • Demonstrated experience with leading diverse teams
  • Committed to quality, improvement and HDR values
  • Actively engaged in professional or industry associations to enhance HDR technical expertise and brand
  • Ability to work cooperatively with regional and local office managers, other area business group directors, technical directors and marketing managers
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

The expected compensation range for this position depends upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions.
