We are actively looking for a Chief Transportation Software Developer to join one of our Florida offices. As part of the Transportation Practice, the Chief Transportation Software Developer will work within a team of professionals developing solutions for a multitude of FDOT and other Florida State Agencies software applications.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Assist in researching data solutions and relationships
  • Assist in developing scripts, applications, data analysis tools, software plug-ins and drivers, and websites in coordination with team members and clients
  • Expand existing software by integrating additional data sources
  • Troubleshoot and perform software maintenance
  • Coordinate with internal team members to integrate software and data environments
  • Coordinate with internal departments and other FDOT Districts
  • Documentation of concepts, software functionality, and requirements
  • Develop software and modules used for traffic management and reporting purposes
  • Test SunGuide software updates with FDOT Districts and Central Office
  • Represent clients in SunGuide Users groups and on Change Management Board

Skills and Attributes Possess knowledge of the FDOT SunGuide Program and software and data platforms related to ITS software

  • Possess knowledge of ITS Integration Quality and Analysis (ITSIQA) software
  • Possess knowledge of the Statewide Express Lanes Software (SELS)
  • Possess knowledge of the Automated Traffic Signal Performance Measures (ATSPM) software and other intersection approach and turning movement count software and the ability to integrate additional intersections into the application
  • Possess knowledge of the FDOT Queue Warning System Software
  • Possess knowledge of the Detection Malfunction Reporting Software
  • Knowledge of CFX's Data Server travel time software, configuration, reporting mechanisms, and integration with other ITS software and systems
  • Understands the data and documentation standards of FDOT and its agency partners
  • Ability to manage multiple task assignments
  • Ability to conduct SunGuide training for clients
  • Ability to develop System Engineering Documents related to software packages
  • Ability to develop requirements documents related to software systems

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science or related field; required
  • Minimum of 20+ years' experience of computer programming/development and data management experience; required
  • Minimum 20+ years of experience working with Traffic Management Software such as SunGuide; required
  • 20+ years of experience working with ITS systems for FDOT and local agencies in Florida including tolling agencies; required
  • All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171
  • Moffatt & Nichol uses E-Verify and employment is contingent upon the legal ability to obtain employment in the U.S. and to present the required documentation at hire

Working conditions:

This position may be required to work at the clients office.

Physical requirements:

Work is generally performed in an office or client office setting. Ability to use standard office equipment is required. Travel may be required from time to time.
