Talent Development & Engagement Coordinator

The Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA), the largest airline pilot union in the world and the largest non-governmental aviation safety organization in the world (representing over 79,000 pilots at 42 U.S. and Canadian airlines) seeks an experienced Talent Development & Engagement Coordinator for our Tysons (McLean), Virginia office. The Talent Development & Engagement Coordinator is responsible for leading and driving the Association's talent development strategy, enhancing staff engagement and recognition, and reinforcing a high-performance culture of service. They oversee initiatives related to leadership development, employee engagement, and organizational effectiveness, ensuring alignment with Association goals while partnering and consulting with key stakeholders to source and implement best practices in talent development, engagement, and recognition. They leverage a deep understanding of organizational dynamics and development strategies to build programs and resources tailored to the needs of current and future staff and staff leaders.

Because they are responsible for creating and implementing a sustainable framework that supports the Association's focus on enhancing leadership capabilities and refining our talent strategy, this role is critical in shaping and sustaining a consistent approach to ALPA's management and talent development, employee engagement and morale, and supporting a culture of learning. This role also administers the Educational Assistance Program and associated budgets for staff training, development, engagement, and related programs and events.

The successful candidate is a highly organized self-starter with strong project management experience, able to communicate effectively across all levels of the Association. They have experience leading large-scale and highly visible efforts, individually and across multi-functional teams. Their people and communication skills with peers and executives are strong and they have demonstrated their ability to manage multiple projects in a collaborative and fast-paced collaborative team environment.

Travel: 10 - 20%.

Minimum Requirements:

    Bachelor's Degree in Education, Instructional Design, Organizational Development, or a related field from an accredited college or university required; or, the equivalent combination of education and experience. Master's degree preferred.
  • Three (3) years of hands-on training experience and/or exercising leadership in an instructor setting required, five (5) or more preferred.
  • Detail-oriented, strategic thinker able to work well under pressure and navigate a dynamic, and sometimes ambiguous, environment with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills - including mentoring, coaching, collaborating, and team building - for effective interaction with contacts, internal and external.
  • Program marketing and promotion experience may be a plus.
  • Experience in instructional design and curriculum development, including needs assessment, course design, and evaluation.
  • Solid project management skills to oversee the development and rollout of training programs.
  • Experience with eLearning development tools and Learning Management Systems preferred but not required.
  • Experience conducting training program evaluations and making data-driven recommendations for improvement.

Constantly operates a computer/smartphone/tablet. Regularly required to maintain a stationary position, move about the office, determine what others have said or written, and converse with others and exchange accurate information.

Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach, and move about the office and travel locally and nationally; international travel may be infrequently required. Also includes occasional bending, stooping, squatting, and/or pushing and pulling or moving, e.g., to pack, unpack, and/or move cases.

Occasionally required to move, raise, reach, and/or retrieve binders, books, boxes, and files up to ten (10) pounds (lbs.). While on travel, may be responsible to move, raise, reach, and/or retrieve luggage weighing as much as 50 lbs. (Assistance may not always be available.)

  • 401k Plan with Non-Elective Employer Contribution of 12% plus 2% contribution into a Market-Based Cash Balance Plan (MBCBP) after 180 days of employment. No employee contribution required! Employees can choose to make pre-tax, Roth, and after-tax contributions to the 401(k). The plan permits in-plan Roth conversions and has a 4-year vesting schedule. The MBCBP has a 3-year cliff vesting period;

PROJECTED ANNUAL SALARY RANGE: $ 70,124.00 - $ 105,278.00
