Job Summary:

As a Sheetfed Press - Assistant, you will assist other Press Operators in the setup, operation and maintenance of assigned press equipment to produce printed materials.

Essential Functions:



  • Hang and position plates properly to secure correct registration between colors.
  • Fill water fountain with proper chemical mixture as directed.
  • Adjust feeder guides, grippers and pile height to ensure proper paper delivery.
  • Correct machine malfunctions such as misfeeds, misregister, paper jams, etc.
  • Pack plates and blankets where needed to secure proper pressures.
  • Follow instructions on job tickets.
  • Practice Safety always by following safety guidelines as set by the company.
  • Take direction from other Press Operators, Foreman or Supervisor

  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to interface with a variety of individuals or groups on a frequent basis.
  • Ability to work with limited direction and supervision, while demonstrating good judgment and strict confidence.
  • Ability to learn computer applications as necessary for the position.
  • Must successfully complete any training or certification courses required to support or strengthen position.
  • Ability to read, interpret and follow verbal and written instructions, work procedures and other related materials.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including strong customer service skills.
  • Must communicate appropriate information accurately and clearly as needed.



Working Conditions/Physical Demands:



  • Must be able to lift and move materials weighing between 30 and 75 pounds.
  • Must be able to use hands for a variety of repetitive material handling tasks about 90% of an 8-hour shift constantly.
  • Kneel and squat to do work on an occasional basis.
  • Must be able to constantly stand for up to 8 hours.
  • Must be able to climb two flights of stairs (about 23 steps) on an occasionally basis.
  • Required to sit, stand or walk for prolonged periods of time.
  • Use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects or use controls, tools or equipment.
  • May require the ability to use a keyboard and other office equipment.
  • May require specific vision abilities that include close vision.
  • May be required to perform concentrated work for extended periods of time.
  • May be required to lift, carry or exert items or objects of reasonable weight.
  • May be required to perform duties beyond standard business hours.
