We are currently searching for an experienced Transportation Project Manager to support our Midwest Region located in Collinsville, IL.

To be considered for this position, applicants must have, at minimum, a B.S. or M.S. in Civil engineering from ABET accredited engineering program.

The pay range for this position is $110,000 - $150,000.

What you'll be doing:

  • Be a practice builder - growing services, clients, and geography
  • Serve as the lead with key client and contract management
  • Recruit, develop, and retain staff
  • Manage transportation projects to meet financial and technical requirements
  • Writing proposals
  • Participating and/or leading interviews
  • Performing contract negotiations
  • Project work planning
  • Supervising the execution of work
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations
  • Participate in marketing and business development
  • Perform routine aspects of assignments requiring knowledge and application of basic engineering principles
  • Projects may include in whole, or in part, roadway, roundabout, multi-use trails, ADA pedestrian facilities, traffic signals, hydrology and hydraulics, retaining walls, enclosed drainage systems, small and large box culverts, traffic barrier systems, and other roadside development features.
  • Prepare engineering studies, documents, and reports
  • Prepare engineering analysis to include: preliminary design, final design, and calculations
  • Conduct surveys to gather field data
  • Prepare drawings, layouts, and other visual aids using computer assisted design/drafting equipment and software to develop designs
  • Review the development of designs for compliance with applicable codes, adopted engineering standards, and good engineering practices

What you need to have:

  • B.S. or M.S. in Civil engineering from ABET accredited engineering program
  • Licensed Illinois P.E.
  • 7 - 14 years of progressive transportation/roadway experience
  • 5+ years of experience in management of engineering and support staff
  • Must be proficient with MicroStation and/or Bentley Open Roads Designer
  • Experience working with municipalities, counties, or DOT
  • Possess a strong understanding of project management
  • The ability to manage AND assist in the production of design deliverables
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • A satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR).
