Position Summary/ Department Summary:
The Financial Analyst II, Reimbursement identifies, analyzes, and monitors issues that affect the Physician's Organization's (PO) net revenue, contractual allowances and adjustments. Performs research, audit, and analysis of payor and business data to help identify and understand variances and fluctuations in net revenue as well as a variety of techniques, ranging from simple data aggregation via statistical analysis to complex data mining. Maintains a thorough understanding of patient billing and accounting systems. Identifies over and underpayments based on contract intent. Extensive knowledge of payor contracts and relevant documents to payor reimbursement, coverage, and authorization policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supports and maintains the preparation of statistical and financial data for the monthly close, including volume reporting, calculation of net revenue, and preparing analyses and reports for management.
  • Assists in preparing the hospital's annual operating budget including preparation and validation of annual budget templates, reviewing department budget submissions for accuracy and appropriateness, and preparing analyses and reports for management.
  • Assists with ad hoc projects across the various functions of the hospital, including meeting with department managers.
  • Assists Government Finance with analytics on Medicaid reimbursement strategy with the goal of improving Medicaid reimbursements in future years.
  • Coordinates and submits external data submissions on a timely/accurate basis; resolves and reconciles any data issues.
  • Maintains collaborative team relationships with peers and colleagues in order to effectively contribute to the working group's achievement of goals, and to help foster a positive work environment.
  • Completes other projects as assigned by manager.

Education:
Bachelor's in business or closely related field (required)

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Strong technical skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office, advanced Excel and advanced database skills.
  • Knowledge of financial systems, reporting programs and networks, with the ability to identify opportunities for enhanced practices.
  • Knowledge of existing and emerging financial technologies and industry best practices.
  • Skilled at evaluating financial analytics and understanding content within the data.
  • Strong business acumen with understanding of the organization and various functions.
  • Ability to provide viable solutions and recommendations with framework of successful implementation.
  • Ability to lead a project team to implement process enhancements / improvements within the department.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight as well as cohesively with a team.
  • Ability to effectively balance multiple responsibilities.
