Yard Operator

Staffmark is hiring a Yard Operator in Gastonia, NC! Join a growing steel distributor where your strong work ethic, keen eye for detail, and highly organized, analytical mindset will drive success. Pay: $18-$19/hour

Schedule: Monday-Friday | 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Responsibilities

• Pick, pull, and stage stock materials
• Receive and stock incoming inventory in designated areas, ensuring accuracy
• Operate saws, bevellers, forklifts, and other yard equipment
• Load and unload trucks with accuracy and care
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions (rain, heat, cold, etc.)
• Read and interpret pipe stencils and use a tape measure
• Keep the yard neat, orderly, and compliant with safety standards at all times
• Report any issues, damages, or inventory discrepancies to management
• Assist with general maintenance and other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Skills

• Comfortable working outside in the elements throughout the day
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
• Forklift certified or ability to obtain certification (and maintain active status)
• Basic math and measurement skills; able to read a tape measure
• Manual dexterity, solid time-management skills, and strong oral/written communication
• Highly organized with strong analytical skills; self-motivated and punctual
