The hire, as directed by the Director of the CA Climate Hub, will develop and deliver science-based, region-specific information and resources to enable effective land management.
The position will apply expertise in ecology, scientific writing, qualitative data analysis, strategy development, and project management. The hire will contribute substantially to the research and writing of a guidance document supporting the strategic direction of an interagency task force, as described in agreement SP0A243795 (Wildfire and Forest Resilience Task Force Action Plan Update).

Qualifications

- BA, or BS in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
- Demonstrated experience managing projects
- Demonstrated experience applying quantitative and qualitative analytical methods to real-world challenges
- Demonstrated experience analyzing climate-related data ;Demonstrated experience developing climate change mitigation and/or adaptation strategies
- Demonstrated experience contributing to multidisciplinary teams
- Demonstrated experience collaborating closely with federal and/or state government agencies
- Advanced project management skills.

Department Overview
The UC Davis Institute of the Environment is a designated Organized Research Unit (ORU) reporting to the Office of Research. The Office of Research (OR) serves as the catalyst for advancing the research mission at UC Davis. Currently, OR oversees 7 ORUs, 13 Special Research Programs 4 IMPACT Centers, and central facilities with over 1,100 employees and annual expenditure and recharge income in excess of $210 Million. There are several research centers under the Institute umbrella including the Center for Watershed Sciences, Center for the Health & the Environment, the Natural Reserve System, and several other research programs and initiatives.
The Institute is a large and complex ORU with 240+ affiliated faculty, professional researchers, adjunct professors, academic and staff support personnel. The ORU occupies 82,680 square feet of regular academic and administrative offices, laboratories, field buildings, and other special facilities in 24 buildings and off-site facilities.
