OVERVIEW OF THE COMPANYFox TV Stations FOX Television Stations owns and operates 29 full power broadcast television stations in the U.S. These include stations located in 14 of the top 15 largest designated market areas, or DMAs, and duopolies in 11 DMAs, including the three largest DMAs (New York, Los Angeles and Chicago). Of these stations, 18 are affiliated with the FOX Network. In addition to distributing sports, entertainment and syndicated content, our television stations collectively produce approximately 1,200 hours of local news every week. These stations leverage viewer, distributor and advertiser demand for the FOX Network's national content. JOB DESCRIPTION

The Sports & News Reporter/MMJ, gathers and analyzes information, video and sound about newsworthy topics to produce and write news stories for broadcasts, social media, digital, and all other platforms by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Cover a wide range of sports news events, including local high school, college, and professional sports.

  • Attend games, press conferences, and other sports-related events to gather information and conduct interviews.

  • Develop and pitch story ideas that are relevant, engaging, and informative for our viewers.

  • Research and gather information to create well-rounded and factual sports stories.

  • Write, edit, and produce sports news stories for broadcast and digital platforms.

  • Deliver live reports and updates from the field or studio as needed.

  • Present sports news in a clear, engaging, and professional manner.

  • Use storytelling techniques to captivate and inform viewers.

  • Contribute to the station's digital platforms by writing articles, posting updates, and engaging with the audience on social media.

  • Utilize social media to gather information and promote sports news coverage.

  • Works in concert with the News Management to develop concepts for scheduled streaming programs designed to maximize audience for the station's content.

  • Comfortable in utilizing technology to execute streaming of pre-produced program content

  • Work closely with producers, editors, and other reporters to ensure comprehensive sports coverage.

  • Collaborate with the news team to plan and execute special sports programming and features.

  • Interact with viewers and sports fans to build a strong connection with the community.

  • Complies with all FTS computer requirements - myfoxpay, Workday Navigator training, password protection, computer usage, etc

  • Complies with all FTS and Station policies - Anti-Bribery & Anti-Corruption, Insider Trading, etc

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Proven experience as a sports reporter or journalist, preferably in a television environment.
  • Strong knowledge of various sports, teams, and athletes.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficient in using broadcast equipment and editing software.
  • Familiarity with digital and social media platforms.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Experience with live reporting and on-air presentation.
  • Strong network of contacts within the sports industry.
  • Ability to shoot and edit video content
  • Other duties as assigned

TYPICAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION:

Regularly stand; walk, sit, reach with hands and arms; and; talk or hear. Occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.

QUALIFICATIONS:

A minimum of 4+ years' experience working as a reporter in a medium or large market is preferred.

EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in communications/journalism or related field preferred.

OTHER: Good news judgment and knowledge of fair and accurate journalism practices. Ability to tell stories, ask good probing questions in Q&A with reporters and ad-lib effectively. Strong writing skills and thorough knowledge of current sports events. Excellent people and communication skills; must be a team player.

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $75,000.00-79,135.00 annually. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
