We are seeking an Apigee Hybrid Lead with hands-on experience in developing, deploying, and managing APIs using Google Apigee Hybrid. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in API design and security, with deep expertise in Apigee policies, Kubernetes-based deployments (EKS), and integration with backend services. This role requires technical leadership, coding proficiency, and the ability to work cross functionally with architecture, Devops, and business teams. Works throughout the software development life cycle and performs in a utility capacity to create, design, code, debug, maintain, test, implement and validate applications with a broad understanding of a variety of languages and architectures. Analyzes existing applications or formulate logic for new applications, procedures, flowcharting, coding and debugging programs. Maintains and utilizes application and programming documents in the development of code. Recommends changes in development, maintenance and system standards. Creates appropriate deliverables and develops application implementation plans throughout the life cycle in a flexible development environment

As a Software Engineer Lead, you'll be a key contributor across the entire software development lifecycle, from concept to deployment. Your responsibilities will include:

• API Design & Development: Lead the design, development, and management of API proxies within the Apigee platform, ensuring security, scalability, performance, and seamless integration with various systems.

• Full Lifecycle Ownership: Own the entire API lifecycle, from initial planning and design to implementation, monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization.

• Mentorship: Provide expert guidance and mentorship to other software engineers, sharing your in-depth knowledge of coding, design patterns, and best practices.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with stakeholders, clients, and vendors to gather requirements, determine solution approaches, and translate them into effective API solutions.

• Quality & Compliance: Ensure adherence to API governance policies, security standards (including PCI compliance), and best practices, performing rigorous testing and validation of complex code.

• Operations & Support: Responsible for day-to-day operations of the Apigee Hybrid platform, including monitoring, troubleshooting, certificate management, and ensuring high availability in EKS environments. Collaborates with Devops and SRE teams to implement logging, alerting, and scaling strategies, and maintaining high availability through disaster recovery planning and failover testing. Additionally the developer supports incident response, root cause analysis, and ensures observability through tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and Splunk.

• 6 + years of strong development experience with API Technologies, focusing on API proxy design, development, and management.

• Demonstrated expertise in the entire API lifecycle, including planning, design, implementation, security, scaling, performance, troubleshooting, and optimization.

• Strong understanding of API governance policies, best practices, and security standards.

• Hands on experience working on Design and Implementation of Apigee X and Apigee Hybrid solutions

• Managing and supporting Apigee Hybrid instances in AWS EKS ,must know Apigee Hybrid,AWS and Kubernetes

• Proven experience in building RESTful and SOAP web services and integrating with external applications.

• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git, VSTS).

• Working knowledge of CI/CD tools like Jenkins and ArgoCD.

• Excellent analytical, planning, and organizational skills with the ability to manage competing demands effectively.

• Exceptional communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to collaborate across business and technology teams.

• Java & Core Java Technologies, including Java 8 (Lambda, Streams, DateTime API).

• Experience with application servers (e.g., Apache, Tomcat, JBoss).

• Familiarity with build tools (e.g., Maven, Gradle).

• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.

• Strong Experience deploying and managing Apigee Hybrid in Kubernetes environments, particularly AWS EKS.

• Knowledge of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services like Pub/Sub, Datastore, BigQuery, AppEngine, Compute Engine, Cloud SQL, Memory Store, Redis.

• Experience with other API Gateways (e.g., Datapower, APIM).

• Experience as a Middleware developer using Java technologies and message queues.

• Experience in the administration and setup of Message Brokers (e.g., IBM Integration Bus, RabbitMQ).

• Good knowledge of Relational Databases, SQL, and JDBC drivers.

• Experience with NoSQL databases.

• Exposure to the Payments industry is a plus.

As a Lead Software Engineer, you'll be instrumental in tackling complex challenges, driving technical innovation, and mentoring junior team members. You'll work on high-impact projects that require in-depth analysis and creative problem-solving, networking with key contacts across the organization. You'll have the opportunity to determine methods and procedures for new assignments and potentially coordinate the activities of other personnel.
