The opportunity

Southern New Hampshire University is looking for a Financial Aid Specialist I. You will process financial aid following all federal, state, and institutional regulations and policies. You will report to the Assistant Director of Financial Aid. This is a remote friendly position (#LI-Remote).

In this Role:

  • You will complete specialized training to gain complete understanding of the financial aid cycle, federal regulations and all aspects of internal and external compliance.
  • You will review student files before awarding to complete any federal or institutional verification, C-Flag requirements.
  • You will evaluate student files for eligibility of federal, state, institutional, and private financial aid programs.
  • You will package federal aid within standard and borrower based academic years.
  • You will review documentation surrounding unusual circumstances and exercise your judgment, by making adjustments or revisions to costs, need, or dependency status.
  • You will identify missing, incomplete, or incorrect student information and resolve through communication with the Finance Counselors.
  • You will troubleshoot processing problems and technical issues with regard to the system and Banner software, and consult with the appropriate resources.
  • You may have other responsibilities as assigned.

What we're Looking For:

  • Employment is dependent upon successful access to the National Student Loan Data System, which requires all federal student loans to be in good standing and not in default and a credit check to review that student loans are not in default.
  • HSD/GED and 1+ years of experience in a financial aid environment
  • Experience financial aid packaging in Ellucian - Banner
  • Strong oral and written skills

Compensation

The annual pay range for this position is $38,750.00 - $62,010.00. Actual offer will be based on skills, qualifications, experience and internal equity, in addition to relevant business considerations. We expect this position to be hired in the following target hiring range $42,818.00 - $57,930.00.
