THE POSITION

The Washington County Housing Department and Housing Authority of Washington County is currently looking for its next Accounting Assistant II to provide financial expertise to help us advance our mission of creating pathways out of homelessness, promoting housing stability, and investing in affordable communities for Washington County and our residents.

This role supports the Washington County Housing Department and Housing Authority of Washington County by performing intermediate accounting duties such as processing accounts payable and receivable, managing vendor payments, and reconciling financial records across multiple housing programs and funding sources. This role ensures accurate data entry, timely payments, and compliance with internal procedures and federal housing regulations.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, dependable, and experienced in processing accounts payable and receivable within a public agency. They are comfortable working with financial systems, managing high volumes of transactions, and ensuring the accuracy and compliance with housing-related funding requirements. Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential for working with vendors and program staff.

This position may be eligible for a hybrid work schedule after initial onboarding and is subject to department need.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent; AND
  • One (1) year of general clerical experience including some financial record keeping.
Additional Licenses, Certificates, Physical Abilities and Specialty Requirements:
  • Must pass a criminal background check post-offer.

  7. Start Date: A start date will be determined after all conditions of employment have been met.
