Responsibilities

The Commercial Banking Apprentice will join our dynamic Commercial Banking team and play a vital role in supporting the department's daily operations. This entry-level position will provide valuable hands-on experience and an opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge of Commercial Banking functions. As a Commercial Banking intern, you will be involved in various aspects of Commercial Banking, assisting with credit department tasks, customer interactions, treasury management and other Commercial Banking initiatives. This internship is designed to provide a well-rounded and immersive experience, allowing you to develop a comprehensive understanding of Commercial Banking practices and contribute to the success of our Commercial Banking team.

  • Support the Commercial Banking team in various departments including: Middle Market Banking, Business Banking, Treasury Management and Credit Department.
  • Participate in the Commercial Banking team sales meetings, customer and prospect calls as appropriate.
  • Assist in portfolio maintenance for the Middle Market banking team.
  • Supports the market Treasury Management team with activities related to the various Treasury Management functions, such as preparing ACH documents, developing account management strategies and service for business banking customers.
  • Assist the Credit Department with financial statement spreads and analysis in order for the Banking team to make loan decisions.
  • Work with the commercial banking coordinators and shadow them.
  • Supports the Banking team with ad hoc requests or Commercial Banking projects as needed

Overview:

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic high school student to join our team as an apprentice. This apprenticeship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in various aspects of banking, develop professional skills, and complete a meaningful project by the end of the program.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with daily banking operations, including customer service, data entry, and administrative tasks.
  • Shadow experienced bank staff to learn about different roles and functions within the bank.
  • Participate in training sessions to understand banking products, services, and regulations.
  • Support the team in preparing reports, presentations, and other documentation.
  • Conduct research and gather data for the final project.
  • Collaborate with team members to develop and implement the project.
  • Present the completed project to bank management at the end of the apprenticeship.
  • Maintain proficient knowledge of, and demonstrate ongoing compliance with all laws and regulations applicable to this position, ensure ongoing adherence to policies, procedures, and internal controls, and meet all training requirements in a timely manner

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in high school (junior or senior year preferred).
  • Strong interest in finance, banking, or business.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
