The Right of Way Area Business Class Lead is responsible for coordination, monitoring, and improvement of technical competencies of business class staff and products to meet client needs and market drivers within the direction and goals of the business class plans in the Area. The Business Class Lead participates in delivery of project services to meet client expectations; collaborates on business class efforts with area operations; performs marketing and project management; participates in business class practice and professional discipline groups; leads project teams and activities to continually improve standards and best practices; implements quality assurance and quality control reviews; participates in regional business class strategic planning, budgeting, and plan implementation; tracks staff workloads and utilizations; establishes internal and external training programs and training schedules; assists with business development efforts and provides support on proposal preparation; plans for project needs and recruits and hires staff accordingly, and drives business class to meet project goals for growth, client satisfaction, and service diversification. Primary Responsibilities The following intends to outline the primary responsibilities including operations and management, client development, and project management for the Right of Way Area Business Class Lead position. Operations & Management * Build and maintain strong relationships with right of way staff, project managers, and client development managers throughout the area. * Provide strategic and tactical input on business trends to business class and areas. * Facilitate business class teamwork, communication and works haring between area offices, business classes, management, marketing, and staff. * Serve as client manager, project principal and project manager. * Prioritize activities to implement market sector and business group objectives. * Manage staff workloads and make recommendations for adjustments as needed. * Manage training and licensing requirements and identify opportunities for continuing education. * Identify project right of way needs and recruit professionals to join HDR team. * Lead and manage the daily operations of the right of way section including direct reports * Coach, counsel and manage performance of direct reports. * Organize and coordinate ongoing training and career development opportunities for direct reports. * Align staff with the tools and training necessary to meet objectives. * Conduct coaching conversations as needed. * Responsible for interview and selection activities as openings arise, including right of way section manager successor. * Act as the liaison for communication and collaboration with other departments and sections. * Lead quality control, including confirmation that quality work is planned and organized throughout the project and implement corrective measures as needed. Transportation, Resources, and Water Client Development * Champion opportunities to grow the right of way practice. * Support Area pursuits and actively participate in proposal development. * Demonstrate "can-do" problem solver approach to colleagues and clients. * Develop relationships in the marketplace with potential transportation, resources, and water clients and define technical solutions to address opportunities discovered through relationship development activities. * Support marketing leadership in crafting client capture plan strategies and prioritize marketing and business development efforts. * Provide strategic leadership and mentoring to create a bridge between technical resources and client needs. * Identify and develop opportunities to expand services to existing clients. * Lead risk management activities for both contract reviews and project deliverables. * Act as the technical SME for the local area right of way market. * Work with area and regional leadership to strategically expand service offerings in the local area. Project Management * Provide area leadership of technical capabilities within the business class. * Actively participate in projects or manage projects to meet assigned utilization rate. * End to end project management for transportation, resources, and water right of way projects. * Coordinate work of multidisciplinary teams including both internal and external resources. * Manage project budgets Adhere to QA/QC procedures.
