Department Summary

The UNT Department of Psychology has ~30 faculty members and over 3,000 undergraduate majors. There are three doctoral programs in the department: Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology (also APA-accredited), and Behavioral Science. Across the three programs, we have approximately 110 graduate students. The department is within the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (CLASS).

Position Overview

This position supports the Psychology department by serving as the first point of contact for visitors and handling a range of administrative tasks. Responsibilities include managing the front desk, answering calls and emails, scheduling appointments, organizing materials, assisting with events, and supporting faculty and staff with various projects and daily operations.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities



  • Office experience
  • Familiarity with UNT Department of Psychology


Job Duties:



  • Greeting visitors and serving as an initial point of contact for a variety of administrative tasks.
  • Ensuring reception area and building is tidy and presentable.
  • Answering phone calls; responding to emails.
  • Monitoring department calendar and scheduling appointments.
  • Receiving, sorting and distributing mail daily, collecting packages from Union.
  • Other tasks as required.


Physical Requirements:



  • Communicating with others to exchange information.
  • Lifting and moving objects up to 20 pounds.
  • Moving self in various positions to perform tasks in tight and confined spaces.
  • Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting or standing.
  • Repetitive motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.

  • No adverse environmental conditions expected.

Varies Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm
