SALARY - $75,000 - $85,000 DOE (Hourly/OT Eligible) The Sales & Events Manager is responsible for generating revenue through proactive sales efforts and event management for corporate, social, and group segments. This role involves soliciting, closing, planning, and executing events to ensure a seamless experience for clients and guests while collaborating closely with operational departments. WORK HOURS: Will be required to work in-office and precludes remote or hybrid work, Monday - Friday between 8:00am - 6:00pm with flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays based on event and hotel needs. May be required to travel or drive to solicit business. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Must have a Bachelor's degree or 2 years' equivalent combination of education and experience
- Must have a minimum of 2-3 years' hotel sales experience
- Must possess a valid Driver's License and a clean driving record.
- Must have a vehicle and valid insurance.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Sales & Revenue Generation
- Proactively solicit and secure new business through outside sales calls, cold calling, site tours, networking, and industry events.
- Manage assigned market segments and develop targeted strategies to meet or exceed individual revenue goals for both group rooms, banquets, and catering.
- Prepare client proposals and contracts that maximize hotel profitability while meeting client needs.
- Negotiate and close group and catering sales opportunities within established revenue guidelines, with flexibility to adjust as appropriate.
- Maximize revenue by selling all facets of the hotel, both verbally and in writing, to prospective and existing clients.
- Consistently follow up on leads, inquiries, and proposals; respond to all new leads within 24 hours.
- Handle all account details thoroughly, ensuring all aspects of solicitation, contract execution, and client follow-up are complete and documented.
- Evaluate potential and existing accounts for profitability and long-term value.
- Regularly monitor and manage room block pick-up, cut-off dates, and attrition in partnership with Group Sales Coordinator.
Event Planning & Execution
- Act as the primary point of contact for booked events, ensuring all client expectations are met from planning through post-event follow-up.
- Prepare and distribute detailed Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), Group Resumes, Diagrams, and billing instructions to operational departments.
- Lead or participate in internal meetings related to upcoming events (BEO, pre-con, etc.).
- Collaborate with culinary, banquet, AV, and operations teams to ensure seamless execution and service.
- Conduct walkthroughs and property tours to showcase hotel offerings.
- Ensure all billing, deposits, contracts, and payments are handled according to accounting standards.
- Monitor guest satisfaction and address feedback promptly to ensure high levels of service and client retention.
- Encourage meeting planners to lookout for and complete event surveys when they are received.
- Maintain a minimum event survey score of 9 out of 10.
Client Relationships & Communication
- Cultivate long-term relationships with clients, vendors, and community partners to generate repeat and referral business.
- Prepare post-event thank-you communications and conduct re-solicitation efforts for future business.
- Maintain a visible presence during key events, including nights and weekends, as needed.
- Participate in local boards and/or organizations that hold events in the community.
- Occasionally represent the hotel at community events, trade shows, and promotional functions.
Team Collaboration & Leadership
- Work closely with the Director of Sales & Marketing to align goals and execute departmental strategies.
- Serve as a liaison between clients and operational departments to ensure successful communication and execution.
- Participate in daily business review meetings, sales strategy sessions, and training initiatives.
