Overview
The Department of Buildings & General Services (BGS) is seeking an experienced and motivated leader to join our team as a District Facilities Supervisor in the Operations & Management Division. In this role, you will oversee the daily operations of maintenance and custodial staff at multiple state buildings, grounds, and correctional facilities in the greater Burlington area. The position requires regular travel between sites using either a state vehicle or a privately owned vehicle. Candidates must hold a valid driver's license and successfully pass multiple background checks. BGS is a dynamic and diverse organization with over 340 employees providing essential facility services to state agencies and departments across Vermont. This position, BGS District Facilities Supervisor (Job Requisition #52870), is open to all State employees and external applicants. Environmental Factors
Duties are performed at State buildings including Correctional and Psychiatric Facilities, Courthouses, Probation & Parole and State Police Barracks. Incumbents may encounter harassment or hostile behavior and must be able to respond in a calm and professional manner. Contact with inmates may be anticipated. Manual dexterity may be needed to operate equipment and use tools. Incumbents should be able to lift heavy weights up to 75 pounds, and work in cramped, wet, or poorly ventilated areas. Requires possession of a valid driver's license. May require emergency response to calls outside of regular work hours. Some potential for physical injury may be present. Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent AND four (4) years or more of experience in building maintenance and repair work INCLUDING three (3) or more years at the journeyman level AND two (2) years or more in a supervisory or lead worker role. Total Compensation
