Staff Accountant

The Staff Accountant will support the day-to-day accounting operations of the family office, including the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements, and maintaining robust internal controls.
This role provides a unique opportunity to gain exposure to a broad range of accounting and financial activities while working closely with a small, collaborative team.
The ideal candidate will have strong foundation accounting skills, an eagerness to learn, and a proactive, detail-oriented mindset. The Staff Accountant will assist with ongoing financial analysis, internal controls, and reporting functions, and will have the opportunity to contribute to special projects and process improvements as the office continues to grow and institutionalize its operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support general ledger accounting activities including journal entries, accounts payable/receivable, bank and account reconciliations, and monthly close processes.
• Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
• Help prepare and maintain supporting schedules for financial reports and internal documentation.
• Support the Financial Controller in budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis.
• Assist with compiling financial data for internal reporting to the Principal and Board of Advisors.
• Participate in the implementation and maintenance of internal controls and accounting procedures.
• Help maintain accurate investment records and assist with monthly performance reporting.
• Collaborate with team members to implement technology and software tools that drive efficiency and accuracy.
• Take part in ad-hoc financial projects, research assignments, and analysis to support the finance team.
• Stay up to date on changes in accounting standards, tax regulations, and best practices.

• Support the development and documentation of internal controls in conjunction with the Senior Accountant, Financial Controller and Chief Financial Officer.

Experience and Professional Qualifications:

• The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Previous experience working in a family office and/or financial services a plus.
• 1-4 years of experience in accounting.
• CPA or progress toward CPA preferred but not required.
• Must possess strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Familiarity with data visualization and automation tools including SQL, Python, and PowerBi, a plus
• Exposure to and/or interest in learning about financial products, derivatives, private equity, and investment management.
• Excellent analytical, decision-making, and strategic thinking skills.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Proficiency with accounting software and experience with a software migration or implementation a plus.
• Excellent organization and multitasking skills
