Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP is seeking to hire an experienced employment attorney to advise on internal employment law and compliance matters. The candidate will report to the Global Head of the Firm's Labor & Employment Group and support colleagues on employment issues across all offices within the Firm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide proactive and strategic advice and counsel to the Firm's People Function and Benefits departments, among others, with respect to various aspects employment law compliance

  • Support the Firm's People Function and Benefits departments, among others, in the execution of day-to-day employee relations matters

  • Monitor developments in employment and HR-related laws and regulations at local, state, and federal levels to ensure compliance

  • Assist with firmwide projects and initiatives, including new policy creation and implementation and the development and delivery of training programs

  • Draft and review employment-related agreements, including service agreements with vendors

  • Participate in US and international audits to ensure compliance with employment law

  • Conduct annual review of Firm's employment policies and procedures

  • Assist with immigration processes

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience practicing employment law, preferably in an in-house legal department setting

  • Experience with international employment laws and advising multistate and multinational employers is preferred

  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school and admission to the NY Bar

  • In-depth knowledge of employment laws, regulations, and best practices

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills

  • Excellent communication, writing, and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders at all levels

  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and discretion

The salary range for this New York position is expected to be between $350,000-$400,00 annually. Actual salary will be determined based on skills, experience (to the extend relevant) and other job-related factors, consistent with applicable law.

Skadden's hybrid work model consists of working Monday through Thursday in the office. Attorneys also receive the opportunity to work remotely for specified periods throughout the year. Attorneys are eligible for the following benefits: medical, dental, disability, and life insurance; 401(k); NY bar registration; on-site fitness center; continuing legal education (in-house, PLI, NY City Bar, Lexis/Westlaw); 4 weeks of paid vacation; and parental leave.
