Job Title: Patient Access Specialist (Remote, Contract Role)

Position Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Patient Access Specialist to support a healthcare access program on a fully remote, contract basis. In this role, you'll serve as a liaison between patients, healthcare providers, and payers, offering guidance and support related to benefits, claims, authorizations, and more. You'll play a key part in helping patients navigate the complexities of healthcare coverage.

Key Responsibilities:




  • Support patients, providers, and caregivers with benefit-related services such as benefit verifications, claims assistance and tracking, prior authorization coordination, appeals and denials, alternate coverage research



  • Conduct welcome and follow-up calls as needed



  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure data integrity



  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure service standards are met



  • Monitor payer trends and escalate potential issues or delays



  • Provide professional, empathetic customer service via phone and digital platforms



  • Handle sensitive patient information with confidentiality and discretion




Requirements:




  • High school diploma or GED required; associate's or bachelor's degree a plus



  • 4+ years of relevant experience in healthcare, administrative support, accounting, or customer service (degree may substitute for experience)



  • Strong understanding of healthcare terminology, insurance processes, and reimbursement practices



  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills



  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Outlook, Word)



  • Ability to work independently in a structured, remote environment
