Job Description

The UMKC School of Nursing and Health Studies is seeking a part-time Research Assistant to provide research support for the CDC-REACH grant, specifically working under the nutrition pillar of the grant. This temporary, part-time position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in public health nutrition research while contributing to meaningful community health initiatives.

This position will support research design, analysis, and scholarly communications for research emerging from three nutrition strategy areas:

  1. Food voucher program
  2. Food service guidelines
  3. Food is Medicine

Primary Duties Include:

  • Research design and development
  • Instrumentation development and implementation
  • Data collection activities
  • Data analysis and interpretation
  • utilization of specialized software (e.g. SPSS, Qualtrics) to conduct research
  • Preparation of scholarly communications associated with the project, including oral and poster presentations, manuscripts, and abstracts

This temporary, part-time, non-benefit eligible academic position will average 10 hours per week.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Experience in research methods (quantitative and/or qualitative)
  • Experience in data analysis
  • Strong written and oral communication
  • Experience with Microsoft applications (e.g. Word, EndNote, Excel)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with community organizations
  • Experience with statistical software (e.g. SPSS, R, Qualtrics)
  • Experience with scholarly communications (e.g. manuscript writing, conference abstracts, conference communication)
Anticipated Hiring Range

The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as a rate of $15.00 per hour.

Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
