Job Overview:

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is one of the leading providers of high-quality programming for refugees resettling to the United States. Switchboard is a one-stop resource hub for refugee service providers in the United States, supported by the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR).   • Switchboard is seeking a short-term (<6 months) Program Officer for Instructional Design focused on eLearning and instructor-led course design. Switchboard provides training and capacity-building services to ORR-funded refugee service providers in the United States, including resettlement agencies and affiliates, state agencies, ethnic community-based organizations, and others. The Program Officer for Instructional Design will report to the Senior Program Officer for Instructional Design and will be responsible for delivering high-quality instructional design across assigned eLearning and instructor-led courses developed by Switchboard's internal and external subject matter experts; provide guidance and review of instructional design across all assigned project materials.This position is remote and may be located anywhere in the United States.

Major Responsibilities:

Instructional Design

  • Deliver high-quality instructional design across assigned eLearning and instructor-led courses developed by Switchboard's internal and external subject matter experts; provide guidance and review of instructional design across all assigned project materials
  • As requested, research and recommend innovative training and instructional design practices that Switchboard should incorporate
  • Ensure that practitioner knowledge informs Switchboard's trainings and learning resources
  • Champion a culture of learning and continuous improvement in Switchboard's approach to instructional design; as requested, identify relevant professional development opportunities for Switchboard team

Project Management and M&E

  • Analyze feedback and evaluation data from previous Switchboard course iterations with a focus on gleaning and implementing instructional design improvements
  • Provide input into Switchboard reports, including monthly activity updates and semi-annual Performance Progress Reports.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in instructional design, education, or other relevant field (or equivalent experience)
  • Minimum four years of experience developing and implementing training, technical assistance, capacity-building, or education programs
  • Experience developing and producing innovative virtual multimedia-rich, scenario-driven eLearning courses and blended instructor-led courses
  • Experience contributing to project M&E (data collection, management, and reporting)
  • Familiarity with and commitment to data-driven, evidence-based programming
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with evidence of ability to build capacity of staff at multiple levels
  • Ability to effectively manage complex projects with strict timelines

Preferred Experience & Skills:

  • Graduate degree in relevant field (or equivalent experience)
  • Familiarity with relevant Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR)-funded programs
  • Experience engaging with external subject matter experts and/or consultants

Working Environment:Remote working environment.

Compensation: Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
