Your Role on the Team

Position Summary:

This role maintains UCI Health System accountability for establishing and executing the strategic direction for UCI's credentialing, privileging, and overall medical staff services operations, including the centralized credentials verification (CVO) program, hospital medical staff offices (MSO), and the UPS faculty delegated credentialing arrangements and related processes. The role focuses on designing and implementing standardized processes, procedures and structures across UCI Health's MSO and CVO operations, to include aligned OPPE, FPPE and peer review processes. In addition, this role is accountable for enhancing relationships with physicians and APPs providing services in any capacity within UCI Health and serves as the primary interface between physicians, APPs, leaders and staff for anything related to medical staff services. This role is accountable for ensuring compliance with applicable accreditation standards and requirements (e.g., The Joint Commission (TJC), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA)).


What It Takes to be Successful

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills and the ability to plan strategically
  • Strong Knowledge of Joint Commission JCAHO, NCQA, and Title 22 regulations
  • Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
  • Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
  • Experience managing and performing work with a high degree of autonomy, organization, and adaptability.
  • Experience in a role requiring a background in the design, development and maintenance of a sophisticated computerized information system including a sound understanding of access protocol and data integrity related to the release of highly confidential data.
  • Experience developing the trust and respect of physicians and support staff.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Demonstrated understanding of medical terminology
  • Demonstrated understanding of TJC, NCQA, and State and Federal regulations and requirements associated with Medical Staff Services and Enterprise Credentialing.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop new vision, create a strategic plan, and lead change
  • CPCS and/or CPMSM Certified
  • At least seven (7) years of demonstrated leadership experience in medical staff services or a directly related field, to include serving in a leadership role.
  • At least five (5) years of project management experience
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
  • Ability to coordinate and resolve issues in a timely manner
  • Ability to apply sound judgment in ambiguous situations and effectively manage change
  • A Bachelor's degree or equivolent documented experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of University policies and procedures
  • Dual Certification in any of the following areas: CPMSM, CPCS, CPHQ
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree
